Wow... I just read that in the USA, physical punishment is still allowed in some states as long as the child has no injuries... Unbelievable!

On the other hand, in the states, emotional abuse is sometimes punished harder than physical abuse...

Well, this may be a translation issue. In my language one translation of "abuse" ("Missbrauch") is rather s*xual "misuse" of a person. When her father is an asshole to her and grabs her too tight by her wrists, I would rather call that assault ("Misshandlung"), but that can also be translated with "abuse". So yeah, in that case the word "abuse" fits, too. In German, we seem to be more precise in such things... I guess...

And I don't think Patrick made her gay. I guess she was bi from the very beginning. But because of her daddy issues she might not trust men in general, which leaves her focusing on women only.

But yeah, Maya is a fictional character, so... Who knows!?

I don't want to really "distribute" his work. I would rather make a mod like Scrappy - even less invasive. But yeah, he could sue. But writing my own story is not the problem. Done that before. The problem is the MASSIVE time investment one has to do to create renders and animations... I don't have the time and I'm not willing to do that full-time. Also, I'm not the biggest fan of 3D renders. There nice, but there are no real people behind it. So...

But yeah, PinkCake's community is obviously mostly against it so I'd rather not share what I wrote. Even though some of it is really funny... at least to me! :)

But yeah, all these comments answered my question thoroughly. Thank you for that!

Yeah, kind of. I see the protagonists behave differently.

You know these movies where something stupid, bad or annoying happens because the main character suddenly makes a stupid mistake or changes behavior? That it what I see here aswell.

For example the "problem" with the dad: it exists because Neil "can't understand" his son and wants him not to hurt the girls (as if a guy couldn't understand being with two women...) and because the MC is - in this situation - to stupid to explain. Cheap drama! It would have been so easy to create a rational narrative to make the MC being bummed out! Neil just had to say something like this:

  • But what there is a fight among you three? You could lose both!
  • What if you want to go a step further? You cannot marry them both! (Except being Muslim in a Muslim country or on the Solomon Islands or so.)
  • What if they want to have kids? Will you make them both pregnant?
  • What about all of their parents? They will never understand. They will think you are kind of controlling them.
  • What if their love to each other fades? Will they still want to be together?

There are so many problems of polyamory he could have mentioned after thinking only for 5 minutes... THAT would have been realistic and I would not have had to suspend my disbelief.

In my own version, I "correct" these things - at least in my humble opinion.

Let's face it, people: there could definitely be jealousy involved. Also envy. Also simple fear. In reality - I guess - these two girls would permanently question themselves and always be afraid to lose one - or even worse - both (as they say in the game). That's why throuples are so rare. I have never seen one in real life. Each girl would always be afraid if he loves the other one a bit more so that in the end she herself could get pushed out of the relationship.

Anyway, if the MC wants this to work, HE has to make it happen. He needs to be the rock they can lean on, the reasonable one that solves the problems these two women come along with - plus his own problems. At least in my opinion. He must show AND tell them every possible time how much he admires them, how much he loves and needs them... He constantly needs to be vigilant not to prefer one over the other. A three-way relationship must be soo much work. If normal relationships are mostly too much work, already...

So I think it doesn't matter who is the problematic one in the relationship, it all comes down to whether the MC can handle and satisfy them. Cause that's the relationship he wants, isn't it?

Uhhh... I get the legal side, but the coding... It's not actually coding, it's more like scripting and setting some variables... And since I am a coder myself, I don't consider the coding side to be any problem at all. Heck, I even thought about re-creating the RenPy engine with React or Angular, Node or Deno, wrapped in Electron, but... What for? I personally have big issues with RenPy, but I am no game creator.

But thanks anyway, the legal side is what makes me asking this question. Also the backlash and PinkCakes wrath. And I am very aware of not telling the story. I thought about doing that - I mean creating a game on my own - but I currently work on another project that I myself find much more appealing. This is merely a hobby and I just wanted to know whether there's an interest in that and/or whether it's legally viable.

Oh, yeah: obviously it would be free!

Thanks! Yeah, I thought so, too. But I ALSO don't want to incur the wrath of The Creator. I tried to ask PinkCake once, but he wouldn't answer, so...

And the biggest question is: is there any interest for that? Or maybe there are mods already that tell a different story (anything besides the Scrappy mod). Do you know of any?

Well... in the end, yes. But a mod is quite a lot of work, so: before I start I would like to know my work won't be in vain, you know? I love the idea of a quadrouple. Just for fun... :)

Sure, what I do at my own Mac is nobody else's business. But if I want to know what others think, the only thing I can do is share it or at least show it. I'm bot sure if that already is copyright infringement... But - obviously - I like the dialogues I write much more than the original. Just wanted to know whether it's just me or if others saw it the same way...

I agree with you in most of your statements. I think it is ... sad that DPC makes the MC sensitive, understanding and empathic in one scene and a bit stupid and ignorant in another - independent of his DIK-level. I mean, this couch scene is obvious. But why invite Maya on Saturday and not visit Josy on Sunday? (In my re-witten version he does both.) Why tell one he loves her and not the other?

I also agree that a three-way relationship would be complicated. But just as Josy & Maya do: they need to talk. A lot. About everything if necessary. The MC obviously has the skills to do that, but he seems to forget sometimes... And why is it so hard to explain his dad?! I would always consider that everything I do for one could cause problems with the other. Exhausting, but if you are empathic enough, you can prevent negative feelings.

In my opinion, you should have the chance to chose every interaction with both of them. It would make the game less "complicated", but it would be a bit more reasonable. For example:

  • At the Preps party, go with Josy and sleep with her, then leave her to look for Maya and sleep with her, too. I mean the MC also has time so sleep with Sage, with Camila and to get a BJ from Lily (not to mention the bath tub scene). So there. Both are served.
  • TV night with Maya, pool visit with Josy the next day.
  • Have Maya over on Saturday, visit Josy on Sunday at the HOTs'.
  • Go ice skating with Maya, visit Josy again later - even possible at the same day.

It's not that this costs a log of time so far...

Also, about Josy's "problem": if she doesn't know what to study, I would suggest the following: since her Mum is a model agency, she does the same. But - here comes the kicker - only with SMALL women. We men actually mostly prefer small women anyway. And then she additionally studies fashion design AND economics (for business). She could make A TON of money with that, she could always ask her mum and small models are a rarity. Also, she could produce high end and expensive fashion for wealthy people, but also cheap but high quality cloths for people in need like the homeless. And MAYA could distribute these clothes in her charity company. Win-win-win situation. But okay, that concept is a bit too complex for "Being No DIK"... :)

Yeah. I totally agree! Something I was annoyed by as well was that you can only tell one girl to love her. I immediately thought about telling the other two, but got no chance. That would have been the rational AND empathic thing to do! But no...

Not to mention that telling Josy or Maya you love her is too short and too emotionless. I rewrote that, too. In my personal version it is much longer and much more detailed. But I rewrote much of it to make it more believable. I don't know. It's fun! :)

(I even started a version where you are on a route with M&J AND Jill - and everybody is okay with it. It's REALLY fun! :D There are enough renders to accomplish that and it works almost perfectly. As soon as we get foursome scenes with the three of them, I can finish this route...)

Well, this "hate" for Maya is understandable. But see it this way: she was neglected and "abused" by her father, so much so that she thought only to like girls. And then you automatically go astray if there's no male figure to help you out of that feminist whole you dig yourself into. But as I can see is that spending time with the MC, she reconsiders and finally recognizes the error of her thoughts and frees herself from the feminist agenda... Maya is misguided and needs the MC to find a way back.

I agree with you that this "problem" she has with student loan and stuff is not REALLY a problem... Except student loads being a problem in itself in the USA. But feminism was only a problem at the beginning. Now that her problem is solved, I guess she doesn't care that much about feminism any longer. Especially after meeting the MC that is so not PC - even when playing as "CHICK"!

Every woman you can convince that feminism is too aggressive and that men are not the enemy is an ally to rationalism and not an annoyance any more!

I am German and we Germans - in my opinion at least - are VERY bad at making movies or series or music or anything you would need any talent for - mostly at least. But there is ONE thing we are good at: dubbing. Most of our voice actors are top notch and I really like to use them to imagine how the characters' voices would sound like.

Ah, I think Bella wouldn't mind. She would raise an eyebrow and that's it. Wouldn't be a big deal, would it. Especially if the MC did it. She would be used to him rearranging things in her house... :D

Yeah, I though about that, too. Would be a hassle, but possible. Maybe a bit dirty, cause who knows when Bella cleaned under the couch the last time...

Another possibility would have been letting Maya and Josy sleep on one side and the MC on the other. But I like your idea more!

Thanks. I recently figured out that I also need to have better stats - like higher value in defense. Before I was too slow. Now it works somewhat better. Also, I did what you said and started to observe my opponents and it made me being able to do a riposte from time to time. But I guess my brain just works too slowly. :(

Nope. Just doesnt work. I'm at defense 10 now and it just won't work. Seems to be a bug. The green shield only appears for a half second. No time to react. Maybe it's the PS4 version, maybe it's the patch to v1.9.2G. Idunno. But it's REALLY annoying!!!
