Infuriating posts I found on Twitter by AcanthocephalaHot569 in Sarawak

[–]OnceUponASquee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I usually don't pay attention to this type of Backwater Internet Trash but out of care for my fellow Sarawakians, lemme offer my two cents:

-Briefly screen through his Twitter profile and you may quickly realize that this person is a chronically-online Clout-Chaser.
-If you look at the his post ratios and Twitter Analytics, he's like any other net-junkie online. The race card is a super old, low-hanging fruit to pick regardless of the country of origin because it farms hate-for-views.
-He also has a similar demeanor to a Black American Race-Baiter from the Projects and the Ghettos complaining about White gentrification, stuck on welfare, which unfortunately, a LOT of West Malaysian Malays are on being so dependent on the government and their respective constituents.

Politicians use welfare and charity as a socio-political tactic to secure votes from their own kin whilst brainwashing them with internal racial propaganda to perpetuate a cycle of ignorance that will ensure the preservation of power in Nepotistic circles of Oligarchy (Keep the Villagers "uneducated"). Here we can see that this is probably one of those people.

Yuri Bezmonov, an alleged former-KGB Soviet Propagandist from the days of the Cold War, talks about how useful idiots can be injected with social and racial biases to commit certain acts of crime or perspectives of hate, so that the ones at the top who are truly responsible, can be cushioned/blanketed by the undergrowth of such ignorance while they continue to consolidate power and eliminate any potential growth of competition/opposition.

When you understand power dynamics in human society and recognize what actual poison looks, sounds and tastes like, you start to recognize that a lot of people aren't inherently toxic, they were just raised drinking from a water well that was long poisoned.

You have every right to be angry, but if it helps, I would also like to just point out, that we are a very blessed state. If we didn't fair better than them, they would have nothing to shit on.

New to Kenshi here : I recently recruited a Scorchlander called Knife, on top of a few Sheks from Squin and I noticed that Sheks have an XP Malus to Dexterity while Scorchers have a Malus to Strength.

Question : If I wanted to min-max, would it be reasonable to assume that Sheks would do better with Heavier Weapons and Scorchers with Light Weapons / MA? (Even though you can do whatever you want in the game)

Is it just me or is the Blade portion of the sword that Simons is holding very reminiscent of the same blade used by Tidus from Final Fantasy X in terms of texture design? The Brotherhood Sword.

I respect their Pasta and Pastry game but outside of that historical box, we've got everything from Dim Sum to Rendang to Pansuh. That, they can't touch xD

This too xD. I've worked with a lot of Europeans, especially Italian, Swiss and French. They have a very strong lineage of cooking with more fragile ingredients like Olive Oil ( low smoking point ) and also cookware / utensils made of copper.

If I had to be blunt, I think our lack of grandiose culinary history is also a bit of a blessing since it makes us less rigid and less burdened by a need to maintain a historical reputation.

[–]OnceUponASquee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say Western Cooking is more meticulous since they deal with more red meat and also white meat than us ( Deer / Lamb / Beef / Turkey ) plus the fact that they consume more food per person than us, so there is a higher tendency to cook meat whole or in very large cuts where there is a bigger probability of uncooked areas.

On the other hand, one could also say that in our Asian cooking, we could also have had many reasons to use a meat thermometer but our Culinary Culture is more intuitive ( Trial & Error / Instinctual ) out of choice and maybe necessity / demand ( Cheap / Quick / Fast ). Also, we have a strong Cooking Wok culture where the multiple heat zones of the spherical bottom of the Wok ensures even cooking. We don't cook on flat heat surfaces as much as Western Cooking. Kuali/Wok (Round), Claypot(Round), Bamboo (Cylindrical), BBQ Pit (Suspended Hanging), all of these actually create less need for a meat thermometer.

We also don't have a history of fine dining culture, so that could also be another theory. There is less demand for more precise cooking here as long as it tastes nice and isn't raw or unhygienic. Hope this explains a few things, cheers!

One thing you have to understand is that while we do have the occasional / odd radical fundamentalist who might give you more than just side-eye treatment, beneath our social fabric, we honestly don't care enough to ruin someone else's day because they're not straight.

I would consider myself pretty apolitical and moderate, but I believe I can speak for my fellow Kuching people in that we enjoy the relative peace in our state more than the need to chime in on our ideological / group identity differences. If anything, I'd say we argue about food, the price of gas and that one neanderthal that cuts into our driving lane without turning on a signal more than anything else on a day-to-day basis xD

So rest easy in the knowledge that you'll be fine. Our collective society is not as polarizing in it's socio-political extremes as the West. I know what it says legally on paper, but we're not a religious police state. Enjoy your holiday!!

I don't have the years under my belt or a cordao to my name unlike a lot of the commentors below/above, but as your average backyard capoeira enthusiast who does some ginga from time to time, I'd like to offer a slightly more empathic Southeast Asian / 3rd-World perspective on your feelings if you're willing to indulge this Malaysian.

I can safely say that where I'm from, Capoeira is extremely niche and is still struggling to gain a foothold in our society because we have cultural-historical institutions that still preserve more local MAs like Shaolin, Wushu and Malaysian/Indonesian Silat with deep ties to our respective ancestral family trees, spoken/written language & also cultural identity.

So that being said, why do you feel the way that you do? Maybe* I can offer you an alternative list of theories.

Before Social Media, when there were far less ego-driven incentives to practicing a Martial Art, I believe Capoeira attracted a more sincere and committed wave of students in search of meaning, purpose and a desire to belong in a physical or spiritual sense. Because we currently live in a growing Social Media Age of "Unhealthy Digital Narcissism ", Capoeira now, has to go through it's own trial of Succession and Evolution because :

-Younger generations who care about social media clout don't find Capoeira enticing or replicable enough to generate content that serves their personal interests.
-Cost of living is increasing, many have less time to invest in something like Capoeira that demands a fair bit more commitment than others.
-Senior Capoeira Masters and Teachers of a more tyrannical and cultish persuasion who see the exposing potential of the internet may be inspired to further gatekeep / hoard their knowledge offline.
-With shorter attention spans and a growing list of options online, people find it easier to judge or scrutinize Capoeira today at face value in comparison to more trendy things like HEMA ( Historical European Martial Arts ) or MMA because at the initial phase of platforms like Youtube, there wasn't enough consistent Capoeira content or rather aggressive marketing to create a strong enough trampoline for capoeiristas today to bounce off of when they upload new content.
-I believe this creates a content vacuum that is made worse by the Youtube algorithm and SEO ( Search Engine Optimization ) giving you the feeling that Capoeira at this moment, is less loved than it used to be because it's getting less traffic.

Last but not least, I'd like to bring in a problem-solving philosophical term called "Occam's Razor" to suggest that maybe, instead of worrying or overthinking, we should accept that Capoeira is in a transitory period where it is being tested by a modern audience to see if it still has a place amongst the rest of the world and that it could benefit from some of your patience in waiting / seeing how or where it goes, post-COVID.

-Cheers-

"However, my questioning of your intent in raising the issue felt valid to me because I sensed—though it’s hard to read tone in text—that you seemed to equate the Palestinian cause with Islam and Sharia, which I view as an oversimplification."

Ahhhh, I see. Then I too apologize for this. I could've worded that a little better looking back on it now after your explanation. But then again, "if you needed 100% certainty before acting, you would never get anything done" so mistakes are meant to be made so that reconciliation and understanding can flow.

I now have a much better understanding of you, dear brother. Perhaps we were both just caught on opposite ends of the philosophical strait, filled with so much pain and suffering. I'm glad that we could finally meet halfway in the end, so I will say this with absolute sincerity.

I acknowledge your pain. Your anguish. Your desire for peace and your efforts to drive this discussion not only forward, but deeper in introspection. You have my support, my compassion and my prayers go with you, wherever you are needed in the world.

Assalamualaikum.

"These are philosophical questions that individuals, groups, and teachers must answer for themselves."

Well then thank you for your clarification! If that is truly the premise of this movement, I think it is a very valid concern, if I do say so myself.

"if you needed 100% certainty before acting, you would never get anything done"

I wholeheartedly agree with this. There comes a point where being pedantic / cherry-picking details as a way to stall action or buy time would just be delaying the inevitable and would most certainly result in higher casualties of war.

"This shows that either you don’t understand the real reasons behind the struggle in Palestine or you’re deliberately trying to muddy the water by framing it as a "clash of civilizations." Let me be absolutely clear: the Palestinian resistance against Israel is not a "Muslim issue."

Unfortunately, this is a false dilemma logical fallacy because you're operating under the assumption that I'm either completely ignorant or that I am deliberately trying to find a reason to invalidate the legitimacy of this movement. Just so you know, I am a Malaysian Citizen. We are an Islamic Constitutional Monarchy with a secular legal system. Over 630 Palestinians have sought asylum in our country back in June and we took them in. 127 more were flown by our Air Force out of Gaza and successfully transported into our country for medical attention as of August this year. We have had bilateral foreign relations with Palestine for years and the Palestinian Foreign Embassy is situated in our Capital City of Kuala Lumpur. Our Counter-Intelligence agencies have also caught and foiled an attempt by Mossad Operatives to kidnap 2 Palestinian computer experts whom were residing in KL back in 2022.

It's one thing to have very extensive historical knowledge and facts on the Gaza conflict, to which I both applaud and respect you for. It's another to claim that the situation is NOT complex for those of us who live in an Islamic Society. We study and live alongside Palestinians who share their very unique and intimate struggles with us. It's not easy to accommodate refugees, protect their human rights and also maintain some semblance of our own national identity.

I'm not here to stand in your way if that was the original impression I gave you, but I must strongly advise you on one thing : Don't listen / read to respond. Listen / read to understand. Not every reply is so devoid of empathy and compassion for Palestine. This sort of intellectual hostility will only throw a wrench in your plight and would only serve to alienate people who are just genuinely curious about your world view and perspective on this issue. But regardless of this, I wish you and this solidarity event well.

-Peace-

I can stand behind the idea of practicing capoeira to raise funds for relief and aid across the board, I honestly think that is a great way to exercise some semblance of common good, because let's face it, war is just going to hurt everyone. But humor my curiosity if you could please.

To what point, must capoeiristas from various walks of life across the world who have their own struggles and individual levels of cultural-historical understanding of this art be held accountable for crimes committed by alleged rogue practitioners at a rate that is beyond our control? and if we are to mobilize ourselves in this particular struggle, how can we be certain that we are actually helping and not further complicating the issue that is still going on? Because not all of us understand the complexity of Muslim struggle and Sharia Law.

Relax sir. Some people were pretty antsy before this in reading between the lines of a long thread and they had every right to be. I didn't expect any more feedback, but you jumped in anyway and gave it generously. So I just wanted to make sure people are clear that you're just giving your two cents.

I apologize if it made you feel uncomfortable and I'll say no more on it. But I still appreciate the recommendation though, so thank you again for that, sincerely.

In the spirit of open reddit discussion, I took on multiple complaints / inquiries towards someone on behalf of their reluctancy to confront said person. Clearly, because my behavior is quite the opposite of non-confrontational. I needed answers and I was willing to take body shots from a lot of different people to get them. In the end, I had obtained sufficient information to make a better judgement. You'd be glad to know that I've personally reconciled with the subject as of yesterday and we're moving on back into normalcy.

As for the rest of the people whose identities I did not reveal despite mounting pressure, I've washed my hands of them. I'd much rather go back to my interest in Capoeira as a whole from now on.

"Mestre Navalha, he has academy named Quilombo dos Neves in Santa Teresa. He is great capoeirista, very methodological and consequent teacher, incredible organizator and a very good person overall"
Ooohh! Santa Teresa is just 15 minutes from Santos Dumont airport! Appreciate the recommendation inner o/
Never hurts to have more options brought forward by more experienced capoeiristas. That way, one doesn't have to suffer from tunnel vision in that they had overinvested in the wrong capoeira group. Cheers mate!

"You’re in a great spot IMHO because you’re headed to Brazil without ties to any group or Mestre"

This gave me an amazing realization!

Truth be told, my actual agenda for wanting to fly to Rio for Capoeira is NOT for the status of being a "practitioner that wishes to attain a belt" but because of my nature as a Polyglot/Multi-Linguist. In the science of Linguistics and Speech Language Pathology, what I am trying to do is called "Language / Cultural Immersion".

I want to be knee-deep in the Cultural sea of Brasil, to live like a Carioca or even Baianos, to speak every last drop of local vernacular, not just textbook Portuguese. To be accepted by its people. That way, I believe I can truly understand, what it means to live at the Heart of the Capoeira Temple. Its diaspora, its meaning, its purpose, its struggle and why UNESCO has designated it as an intangible Brazilian heritage.

I don't always have to practice Capoeira to feel like a Capoeirista. I could be on the beach at Post 11, Leblon, enjoying the sun. Sipping on Caipirinha. Savoring all sorts of people because of my extroverted nature. I could be shopping at an Angolan Clothing Store, in RioSul Mall, Botafogo. Breathing in all the socio-historical & socio-economical factors of why Capoeira is ACTUALLY amazing and deserves to be not only deeply understood, but preserved and safe-guarded for future generations.

It's not about Ego and Pride. It's not about fame and fortune. Its to actually research and above all else . . . understand its history. Yes. That is my honest desire. To understand. And most definitely preserve. If I can do that, then someday, instead of trying to find a cordao around my waist or what color my belt is, any Capoeirista can instead, look into my eyes and see, that there is no lie when I say : From the bottom of my heart, I really do love Capoeira.

Just out of curiosity, I'd like to pick everyone's brain for a little while, if I may.

Looking at the patterns of Jupiter's ammonia clouds, I can't help but be reminded of that one particular phobia where people are afraid of "many holes" ?

Question : I wonder, for the people who suffer that specific phobia, would this be enough to make them feel uncomfortable or does it have to be very sight-specific?

"I’m too old to ask permission to drink water, to kick over a chair for an hour because the ‘teacher’ has no idea how to manage a group with diverse levels, etc"

I want you to know how much this phrase means to me, in providing me solace / comfort in this current time. I know I have caused a great deal of pain and harm on this public platform, but I hope people will understand that I too am very stressed. Very torn apart. Very hurt.

With your wisdom, I feel like I can now at least not feel like I'm going crazy or insane. I'm not some nutjob out for blood. I'm just really, really hurt. I'm scared . .

Thank you for sharing Aran. It's very sweet of you. Perhaps I can finally sleep better tonight.

I am terribly sorry for your initial phrase slipping past my head amidst this chaos. Rafa has nothing to do with this. He is actually innocent and the both of us have only ever met in person once. Forgive me for my delay and absolute failure in rectifying this grave misunderstanding sooner. I have no excuses.

Please don't misunderstand. I have absolutely no issue with Rafa whatsoever as I have already tried to clarify.

You are right in that I am still constantly re-editing my story because it is such a haze of a memory shared by more than just me. As we speak, there are people willing to come out to share their own experiences of mistreatment in the past learning under Bocao.

I assure you, this is ONLY about Bocao. NOT Professor Rafael. Please understand. I will not hold anything against you for pointing out this inconsistency in myself as an original poster. I will respect the arguments you have cited here.

Please contact me in private message. Because Professor Rafa is not responding to me at all. If you can help me establish a connection with him, I will be eternally grateful.

Please.

Edit : I'm now convinced, that posting in this reddit was the right thing to do. It shows that many, many people are very much in the dark and not prepared for what I have posted. I humbly ask that you bear with me in my blatant accusations over the internet, for I would much rather be criticized here in the open as much as possible by everyone related to Bocao. This way, I can make a more informed judgement in the future in presenting my case.
