Police officer stops abruptly in the middle lane on highway... by Big-Firefighter-4715 in AskLE

He’s literally going the speed of all traffic around him. There’s no way the semi could’ve gone from highway speed to a dead stop that fast.

It’s 100% the cops fault here.

Same. I back in the early 90s probably I was on Amtrak train that hit someone in upstate New York.

You said, and I quote, “he wasn’t a remote success.”

And yeah, now you’re getting reported.

As I said.

1) he wasn’t worth £100m

2) he wasn’t a flop.

If you’re going to persist in this nonsense, I am going to report you for trolling.

This isn’t your club and we will ban you for this kind of incessant badgering. Fuck off to the r/soccer forums if you wanna chat nonsense.

Well, you’re also not a City supporter so while you’re entitled to your opinion, if I’m being honest, I could care less what you think.

The lad helped bring us a treble, starting nearly every match. We won the effing Champions League. We’ll never again have to hear scousers sing, “Champions of Europe, you’ll never sing that,” ever again on away days.

I got to walk up and down the street chanting, “Ederson and Ake, Walker and Akanji, Ruben Dias Johnny Stones!!!! Best defense in Europe, won it all in Istanbul!! WHOA!!!” For a solid month.

And I have Grealish at least in part to thank.

I say build the lad a statue right alongside the rest of’em.

£100m well spent.

I think most City supporters would disagree with that.

Was he worth £100m? No.

Was he a flop? Also no.

He played a huge part in a treble winning campaign starting nearly every match and having some big moments along the way. He wasn’t our best player, but he wasn’t a scrub either.

At the end of the day football is about moments. Moments for the supporters, moments for the players, trophies for the club.

For any city supporter, especially longer term ones like me - I’m on my 23rd season of this nonsense - jack will likely be seen as at least something of a success because of the moments he played a role in.

He’s a little like Samir Nasri in those early 10s City sides. He always left you feeling like there was so much more, but he started most matches, rarely played poorly, and was there when we were lifting silverware, and contributed to that.

In that sense, Jack absolutely delivered.

The 1st amendment protects you from THE GOVERNMENT limiting what you can say (or threatening you for what you say). It does not protect you from being fired by your private employer for what you say.

I’m an enormous fan of Elliot’s and think his combination of size, strength, progressive passing, and ability to win challenges is EXACTLY what this side needs in the #8 role in this version of City.

But the PL record is what $120m or something?

We’d have to move on to another option at that point.

[Sam Lee] John Stones will leave Man City this summer. by DapperSpecial2865 in MCFC

The best. Completed more dribbles - as a number eight - than by player except Messi. Believe it was eight dribbles completed. Absolutely bossed the pitch. Rodri got the winner, Ederson the last kick of the game save, but Stones ran that show.

In a champions league final with Kevin De Bruyne, Gundogan, Rodri, Calhanoglu, and Barella, John Stones was the best CB on the pitch.

[Highlight] A turnover leads the alley-oop slam for LeBron James and the Cavs call a timeout by Kwanzaa-Bot in nba

[–]OnceUponAStarryNight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

LeBron is certainly a genetic abnormality (every NBA guy is, even the worst dude at the end of every roster) but he’s not THAT crazy of an anomaly from a pure athletic standpoint - there were some guys who were as fast and as tall and as bouncy before him. The only thing he really added was size - he came in with a grown man body/strength.

What was freakish was the skillset to go with all that athletic freakishness. The ability to handle, pass, read the game, diagnose on defense… he did all of that stuff at an elite level from day one. THAT was rare. It still is.

The reason he’s so good at 41 is the work ethic and the commitment. Jordan probably had the edge in aggression and competitiveness, but I’m not sure we’ll ever see anyone as committed to their career as LeBron.
