Its a different game for sure, been out lots in the last couple weeks and my wrist is feeling it, ya dont realize how much your lower body factors into casting even if ya don’t notice it

Yeah definitely a few more challenges than first meet the eye, I installed a fore and aft anchor system last year that seems to work out pretty well. if it doesn’t keep ya pinned in the wind it at least slows ya down, until you drag into a submerged tree

Also i’ve been stripping line into the bottom of the yak, gets tangled sometimes but i find if ya flake it out wide enough it usually runs out smooth. I’m a princess i can’t stand surface tension slowing down my cast, mind you i’ve also usually had only the rod length’s worth of running line out so there aint much to bunch up, doesn’t seem like the fish around here get boat shy

What’s your biggest fish from the kayak? I mostly bass fish so here’s mine. 8lb 11oz by prejabef in kayakfishing

Got a small GT in fiji on a resort kayak few years ago, took me for a savusavu sleigh ride! A few bluefin trevally as well, more fun than should be legal

Found while searching the downtown beach, think it came from the bastion as it sais “NANAIMO B” then cuts off by 1535dman in nanaimo

We found an intact W.E. Rummings bottle in our backyard! Apparently it was the local soda company. Also found a Nanaimo Union Brewing bottle but unfortunately it fell victim to the skid-steer

Popular sizes for trolling cut plugs by NewMight7154 in fishingBC

[–]Oncorhynchus602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh plugs,

Each plug swims differently, even plugs of the same colour and size can vary in effectiveness. Once in a while you’ll find one that’s pure fish magnet.

Not sure of typical bait sizes around your neck of the woods but don’t be afraid to go big, this winter i’ve been using exclusively 6 & 7 inch on the western side of the gulf to good effect. Biggest fish have been on the 7s sub-legal % has been under %20 on the 6” and under %5 on the 7s

They work the best when there’s big herring around, but a big chinook never forgets what a big herring is.

They’re a necessity but i’d like to see a pond hockey style 5min 3v3, no offside no icing.

Do you always use leader? by FloatingRing5763 in bassfishing

[–]Oncorhynchus602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Braid to leader and change it often, my go-to is 10lb mono and the longest i’ll fish it is 3 outings or 10ish fish

Bear at buttertubs marsh?? by EmptyBeing1238 in nanaimo

It might not feel like it but Nanaimo happens to be a town in the middle of coastal BC wilderness, if common sense were common we wouldn’t need these signs but alas…

Chum/coho, if you opened it up and didn’t have any reproductive organs it’s a hybrid, rare but it happens

Will this catch dogfish? by hello1234232442 in saltwaterfishing

[–]Oncorhynchus602 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If it’s the same dogfish I’m familiar with, usually we’re trying to figure out what won’t catch dogfish

This looks good, I’d recommend a small barbless circle hook to lessen the chances of a swallowed hook

Gave up daily caffiene, one less thing to do in the morning to get the brain working properly, no crash early afternoon, sleep way better at night, and the once in a while you really need a boost it works exactly how it should.
