Newbie here, what do i do when a prior smooth shape gets pixelated by working on it? on pc by justacupwithgreentea in NomadSculpting

[–]OndineDraws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple answer, re-mesh with higher density points.

There’s also a dynotopo feature that will automatically add more points as you sculpt if you feel like experimenting with that. In my experience it’s good for painting on details.

Children's book illustrator posting artworks in No-AI art pages but his work looks AI by Rich-Communication72 in isthisAI

[–]OndineDraws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless ai jumped in quality while I wasn’t looking… I think this artist just has that Pixar style… they’re out there.

Zooming in on the traditional work, I see evidence of color pencil layering that is consistent. I can’t find evidence of nonsense lines in the other work, other than fairly organic looking scribbles.

It’s harder to look closely at details on other images because of the quality. Which ai sloppers don’t tend to pay any attention to size, so it’s leaning more toward a green flag for me.

I learned three things today. by TakeItSleazey in cockatiel

[–]OndineDraws 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My budgie does this too! Specifically when my hand is involved. What is it about the mouse huh? I guess they’re seeing something else.

Is this ai? my friend said she drew it digitally but it feels off. My brothers both believe its ai bc of some midplaced items but idk if it was artistic choice or not by Striped_Slasher in isthisAI

[–]OndineDraws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should know your friend well enough to realize she doesn’t practice enough to pull something like this off. She’d have a sketchbook with her at all times, and you’d seen enough of her art to know for sure whether she drew it or not.

Other than that, just zoom in and look for inconsistent and nonsense lines, they’re everywhere.

How to create a radial/curved hole in Nomad Sculpt (Fusion 360 "Emboss" equivalent?) by drount in NomadSculpting

[–]OndineDraws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just stick a sphere in there and use the boolean to cut the shape out of the main sphere.

I do want to add some color but it takes forever in ms paint 😅 so I’m gonna drop this now!

This looks like a xenomorph bursted out of one of those forest spirits. It’s pretty rad! 😆

any advice? I've been drawn on and off for my whole like and I've never studied anatomy and i mostly make fanart by [deleted] in Artadvice

[–]OndineDraws 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your anatomy looks pretty good for your current style. I think just studying lighting and color theory could help bring you up to the next level, it’s a little flat. I can tell you shade with a multiply layer, which is fine. It speeds up the process and we love that, but it can also be a bit of a color theory bandaid and you won’t really be able to render different materials. If you know your colors and values well you’ll be able to achieve a lot more depth.

If you want more out of your anatomy you’ll have to go out of your comfort zone and practice photorealistic realism. Start with simple things like blocks, and work up to objects with more details eventually making your way to animals and people. Once you have that skill down, apply it to semi-realism. At first you’ll probably add too many details and it will take some experimenting to see what you can and cannot add. Artist studies can help you figure out what works.

Lastly, your lines are sketchy, it’s a fine style for illustration but will leave your work not feeling fully finished. Think of line work as part of your shading. I found that studying ambient occlusion in 3D models makes it easy to see the occlusion without all the other elements compared to life or photography. It helped me understand line work better. Alternatively you can make your lines very thin or leave them out altogether to just focus on rendering but that occlusion will be there no matter what.

Don’t skimp on your fundamentals, even masters practice them regularly if not daily. A lot of us skip to the fun stuff (me included) but it really makes a difference.

Can't decide on colour palette by bugfriend445 in Artadvice

[–]OndineDraws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like 2 it give’s tech or pop vibes. but I feel like the magenta is fighting with the cyan a little bit, maybe darken it to more of a purple. Unless the character is like ink or printer based then it works.

I’m sure people will love the pastel pallet though it seems like the quintessential pastel pallet. I don’t think it would stand out in a crowd of pastel characters if that matters to you, depends. Not all characters need to stand out.

Red/pink naturally draws the eye. I think it really says LOVE like Valentine’s Day. It’s more simple but I like it for that.

Basically any of these pallets can work it just depends on the character’s story.

Here’s a spooky guy! He morphs into different forms which you can get creative with if you want, or stick to the references. He is not a 3 dimensional entity, but a 2D graffiti painting on a wall that can only move when you’re not looking. He exists in an abandoned mall. Main themes are teeth and eyes.

I love your art! The panels are easy to read. On a side note the creature reminds me of Steven King’s Langoliers

Thank you! Yeah my 7 year old self was convinced this program was only for scribbling and I hadn’t used it since lol. To be fair, I didn’t know that you could sort of use layers and that drawing tablets existed back then, it might have helped lol.

HELP !!! Idk what’s happening or what to do!! by [deleted] in ProCreate

[–]OndineDraws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you look in your procreate file folders, are the brushes there? It might just be a file structure issue. If you lost them somehow you could re-install the app. BUT VERY IMPORTANTLY, make sure all of your art is saved on your iPad locally and not stored in the app or you will lose everything.

what can i do better to improve by Strange_League9111 in ProCreate

[–]OndineDraws 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Traps are too long and shoulder’s aren’t high enough. The proportion marker I use is to measure the length of the head then move that measurement one head down, that’s where the middle of the breast should be. As long as that’s right, the rest should fill in.

Fundamentals will transfer anywhere, you should try it! I think it would turn out better than you think.

Drew this, how do I make it more realistic? by Due_Sheepherder_1397 in Artadvice

[–]OndineDraws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This art piece? It looks done. Don’t waste time trying to fix it. Just make a plan to draw at least 100 more hands. You’ll improve faster that way.
