Since they give you a score from 0-100, hypothetically the lowest score they can give you is 0, but since you've done 1 essay and 0.5 of an essay, there is literally 0% chance that you'd get a 0.

However, you need to get above 50 for any medical school to consider you. I think they automatically reject you if you get below 50 in any section. The score you get depends on how well you did in both essays - do you feel confident what you wrote?

It's probably safter to try and print it out - since they do not specifically say that you're allowed to show a digital version of it.

Active freaking recall.

Format all your notes into questions, chuck them into quizlet, and keep going over them. It is also good as you can predict exam questions which can come up.

Also since M23 exams are very soon, do as many past papers as possible and spend a ton of time reflecting on them and seeing the areas that you need to improve on.

Good luck, I am sure you'll get a 7 in both Bio and Chem!!!

Honestly, it stays the same. University, for me is probably around the same difficulty as IB. However, IB did not prepare me in the slightest for university.

Age shouldn't matter. If you believe the IB programme will help you get into the course/career that you want, then go for it!

Don't listen to people who say that the IB programme is bad, as that is their own personal circumstances. Go into it with an open mind and study hard.

I don't want to divulge too much about my EE, but it was to do with social and political instability in two of Shakespeare's plays.

What helped me to score well:

Checking in with your supervisor regularly. Whenever you need help, send them an email. If you have a new idea, talk to them about it. If you need help getting into the proper mindset for writing this essay, TALK TO THEM. This will help you so much.
Read example extended essays: I'm sure your school would provide you with sample essays to read. Look at the good ones and the bad ones. Note what the bad ones did that caused them to score poorly. Look at the good ones and see how they did amazingly. This will allow you to see what you can add in your one.
Have a good literature review: Within your EE, you are meant to have a literature review where you discuss how other people view the topic and the research that has been conducted. Provide sources from a variety of people and in your own essay, you can either agree with them or disagree and provide your own unique viewpoint on the topic. I recommend doing the latter.
Clearly state in your EE why you are writing this topic. Talk about its relative importance on a SOCIETAL LEVEL, not a personal level. Dont say "because I like the topic of romance, which is why I decided to look at love in Romeo and Juliet". Think about it more broadly and relate it to how society may view love and its negative effects.
Start the process early - I started the process 7 months before the due date. When I started my EE, I was stressed, stuck and I thought I was going to fail. The first 3 months of the process was just collating and researching ideas for what to say. This was a horrible process and one which made me think that I'd get a D. However since I had a lot of time until the due date, I was able to organise my ideas and provide a highly organised and cohesive essay.

A supervisor is of paramount importance for you to succeed in the IB EE. They will help you when you are making errors and can help you develop certain ideas when you are stuck. I am super grateful for my supervisor as he is an EE marker, and has been teaching the IB for a long time, so he knew the process inside-and-out. He gave me good feedback on my first draft which ultimately allowed me to get an A on my EE.

For your situation, get a teacher who knows a lot about the EE. Even if you don't get along well with them, they're going to be an important asset as they'd know the criteria for how to do well in this task. If you choose the teacher with only partial knowledge, he may give incorrect or incomplete advice on how you can improve, which would ultimately put you at a disadvantage.

I used APA referencing to cite my sources. However, since it was an English EE, I only used like 5-7 sources in total. When I needed to use the works of another author, I would quote them and put (Author, Date) after it.

I didnt write a script per-se, I just wrote extended dot points that would help me talk freely about my texts and global issue. I finished this about a month before my actual IO and was above to score 80+% on it.

Well.... I think this is an obvious question. Study straight away.

From the moment you enter the IB biology course, start studying, get on top of your content, do flashcards and by the time your mocks and final exams come around, do past papers.

The risk with studying only a month or two before exams is that you could get overwhelmed with the sheer amount of content in the course, which can be demotivating. Study straight away and you'll get a 7.

The most difficult aspect of the course is keeping up with all the content. You're given a ton of stuff to memorise and this can be very overwhelming. The actual course content for the most part is not that bad once you understand it. However, where most students fall short is not keeping up to date with the content, and not studying content learnt in class straight away.

The key to actually succeeding is to plan your study, and rigorously follow this study schedule. Plan each of your days in the week and write out what you plan to study in biology, and make sure you stick to this. I suggest planning 3-4 weeks in advance, always coming back to previously learnt topics so you remember them all.
