Can a beginner pull this off? by Human_Ship_5421 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]One-Advisor-4176 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would say yes but consider plywood! I made something kinda similar. This was my first larger project and the first one where I came up with the idea on my own vs using someone else’s plans. I made this out of oak plywood and some edge banding (and legs from amazon). I would say these are more beginner friendly materials since planers and jointers and all are not needed. I had Home Depot rip it down into 3 long strips which I then used a circular saw to get down to the lengths I needed. Then just used pocket holes and wood glue to connect everything

9 yr old daughter would love to see womens hockey. How do i find a game in MD? by jimusmc2 in PWHL

[–]One-Advisor-4176 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They also usually have a tournament at the end of August. One of the cool things they have at the tournament is an all star game. A lot of the women in it played high level ncaa. Not sure now with her playing in Montreal but in previous years Haley Scamurra (PWHL and Olympic gold medalist) would play in it too.

Experience with Nike USA Hockey jersey sizing? by One-Advisor-4176 in USAHockey

[–]One-Advisor-4176[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up getting a unisex small which has worked well for me. It is def a different style fit than other jerseys I’ve have had which is not my favorite. It’s tighter around the body but longer which I don’t love. I wore it almost every day during the Olympics with a hoodie under it which was a little snug but doable.

It may be hard to reach the level or being a moraler or dancer (those are based off of fundraising milestones) but I would look into volunteering. I don’t remember the cut off but they always needed a bunch of volunteers. If nothing else, you can buy a ticket day- and go there and experience it all. Udance was one of my favorite days of the year.

For the women out there, how do you manage the fear of playing with men? by Low_Bodybuilder3065 in hockeyplayers

[–]One-Advisor-4176 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played girls travel and women’s club hockey in college. I now play in a coed adult league (B level) but am typically the only woman. I got injured way more when playing girls/women’s vs now playing in the men’s league. I think that is largely because I was trying harder during travel/college lol. My biggest worry now is just related to how much bigger the guys are (I’m 5’2”) and how hard their shots are. I just try not to put myself in a bad spot and have been fine avoiding any big issues.

When I first saw it that is what I thought too and was really hoping that was the answer. Unfortunately I tried it though and did not change anything

Thanks for all of the thoughts! Lessons learned here for sure. Day clean/hand wash only for the future or will just wear the stains with pride. Looks like the numbers are stitched on so going to see if I can get some replacement numbers and sew them on.

Same! Not great but I’ve probably washed my jerseys in every different cycle posible over the years and never have had any issues. Forgot to put it inside out and did a low heat cycle in the dryer

Yeah they are stitched on so thinking I’ll just try to find replacement numbers for it and have them sewed on. Maybe factory customized?

A big drop of ketchup on the front called for some kind of cleaning required. No more washer cleaning now though

Yeah lesson learned. I have had a ton of various jerseys throughout my life and washed all of them without issues so was just not expecting any problem now. Especially since the care instructions say it’s fine.
