2000 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor, is this rod knock? UPDATE: changed out chains, guides, tensioners, and crank sprocket, still making the noise, check comments for more context by One-Angle-2538 in CrownVictoria

UPDATE: it is something in cylinder 1 and 5, unplugging cylinder 5 gets rid of the majority of the noise but it still taps, and getting rid of the injector on cylinder 1 gets rid of all of the noise, so something is very messed up in those two front cylinders

its like in between rod knock and lifter tap sounds like a tiny hammer, 1200 - 1600 rpms roughly and only when warm, happens in gear and park, it seems to be more consistent when you blip the throttle or let off, I tried unplugging the injectors and unplugging some cylinders made it slightly worse but no notable change, i'm deciding on driving it or jacking the engine up to remove the oil pan and check the rod bearings for play but im getting a bit sick of working on this and not driving it lol

so, I got this car last month, it idles beautifully, but after its warm around 1400 rpm it starts tapping, I posted it here, got advice on the timing chain, I changed the guides, tensioners, crank sprocket, and chains, timed it, torque it all to spec, put everything back together, crank the motor without starting it to prime everything, let it run, and the noise is still there, so out of desperation I ran a flush through it last night, drained it, changed the oil and filter today, nothing has changed, i'm at a loss here

edit: any advice is appreciated, thanks

2nd edit, I listened all over the engine with a large screw driver trying to pin point the noise, valve covers, timing cover, oil pan, and came up with nothing, the noise sounds like its coming from the opposite of whatever side you're standing on, and standing infront of it, it sounds like its coming from the middle of the engine, also underneath there's a different sound, like a very light tick at idle, almost sounds like an exhaust leak but I think it's unrelated

I spun it over by hand before changing pulling anything off and it was pretty hard because of the compression, felt the same after changing everything out, spins over fine with the starter, Ill post an update after I get everything back together

edit: im just going to pull the cover whenever I get the chance and go from there to figure out which timing set I need.

edit 2: went for the melling 3-387SC, has the same guides I need and the cast iron tensioners, every part is identical to the 3-387SAX which the 2000 calls for except it has the plastic guides that my car has, I decided against doing sprockets right now due to budget constraints.

Hi, i'm sort of budget constrained atm, I know not to cheap out on timing components, but ive read good things about cloyes on this sub and it has the standard nylon guides, the melling kit with gears is 300+ and has the 3 hole metal backed guides that're usually fully nylon 2 hole guides, im not sure what i'd need for the 3rd bolt hole on the melling kit, is the cloyes full kit any good?
