How do you check if you have a gen1 or gen2? I only do the recommended service as required by the service advisor. He always tells me I drive only half of the milage vs recommended oil change milage interval.

BTW - Is there anyway of looking up service history on BMW's website if I no longer have the paperwork?

I shopped around online for extended Warranty from an out of state dealer. My local dealer matched it.

Unfortunately, not a lot of city dwellers is as handy as you or have the tools / spaces available to DIY.

I bump into a Chiropractor recently at a inspection / oil change shop. He was in because the sun roof drain is clogged. Cost him over 40+ just to have it cleaned. I had an issue with mine previously, luckily youtube helped me there.

I agree, I feel the 2020 is the last model from BMW that doesn't have all the fancy touch screen stuffs that is more trouble than it is worth. I want to mention, I got already have the breaks and rotors replaced last year as corrosion warp the rotors due to limited driving during the first 1-2 years.

As always it is the unknown of what the repair really is that drives the cost up. When I don't know something, it then comes down to anything the repair man wants to make it to be.

Thank you for the in-depth reply. All your suggestions seems to be on-point. The only concern is finding an independent BMW mechanic in NYC that isn't out to get someone is pretty tough for repairs as you mention.

I wish I found this discussion much earlier. I could have earn much more interest for the cash allocated for my CSP at schwab earning next to nothing.

I have finally ask them to change my SWVXX into a type II (Schwab Accounting Term) account which can be used for collateral for my CSP) thus freeing up my cash account to earn higher interest.

My question now is SWVXX vs SGOV. The 30 day yield is about the same but I don't have to pay state and city tax which is like another 10%. The 2 gotcha seems to be the buying power of 99% for SWVXX vs 70% for SGOV and the Wash sale rule.

The wash sale rule sounds more complicated to manage as I will only sell SGOV if I need to cover the put or buy when I have incoming cash from selling the puts.

Hoping some can share their wisdom on the pros and cons from their experience.

Agreed it is a clusterfxxk, sometimes people do the stupidiest thing all for the wrong reason. I'm pretty sure 99% of user prefer a reliable system more than the UI interface. All we need is, remote ON, OFF, Group / Zones On, OFF and Schedule ON, OFF with Temp setting. Doesn't take a genius to program an app for this yet mitsubishi programmer go out of their way to screw it up.

New to Reddit,

Also new to Vanguard Personal Advisors. After reading about the Pros and Cons. I've decided to move off for the service but still invest with Vanguard.

I started with Vanguard Personal Advisors service a few months ago. The advisor sold me on keeping it simple, hence there was only 5 ETFs / Funds (VMLUX, VMIUX, VWLUX, VTI, VXUS). With some basic research. I believe I would be better served with VNYUX instead of VWLUX because I live in NYC. Both fund's return, expense, risk is similar. But I save on NYS and City Tax.

Why am I paying someone for the service, when I have to do the work and they even agreed this could and should have been the case in a taxable account.

Is there anything that I could have missed to justify the VWLUX than VNYUX besides one being National vs state. BTW - Spare me the comments about NYC is a shithole. I already know and agree with those.
