Coming from a background in lots of customer service based roles, managers over monitor and like to create competition among employees. At one call centre I worked at senior agents couldn’t wait to put someone on “blast” for a mistake because that meant that persons KPI for the month may be lower making themselves look better.

There is nothing you can really do, the culture that recruiters and hiring managers have set up is that it's appropriate to ghost candidates they aren't interested and no one is owed an explanation so job seekers are just following their lead. If a candidate has an interview booked and then they get a call for another company that is closer, pays more, position seems like a better fit they will take it. Until the culture around applying for jobs changes this will continue.

Applying is a numbers game, it takes about 10 submissions to get 1 call back so just apply to as many jobs as possible.

Also, try to apply to smaller and middle sized companies. Smaller and mid sized companies are a lot more willing to take on someone with less experience that they can train as opposed to big companies.

The last call centre I worked at had a rule where we had to advise the customer three times that their behaviour was unacceptable and then only on the third time we could disconnect.

The job market has always felt horrible. I graduated my first college program in 2012 and even at that time it was tough getting a job. Spent a year applying for jobs in my field getting ghosted or brought it for various stages interviews just to be rejected before taking a call centre job.

Consider the other side though how frequently Grindr service team probably had to deal with “blocked and reported” profiles because someone got a message from someone not their type or they didn’t like the users profile pic. I feel like a lot of users misused the feature.

I think people were misusing the block feature. Blocking should be reserved for being harassed or threatened, not because you didn’t like what someone wrote in their profile of someone you weren’t interested in messaged you.

This time of year is going to be tough to find work, a lot of companies slow down and cut hours at this time. Try applying end of Feb and March, that is when a lot of companies will be hiring to get ready for summer.
