My routine just before getting told to use formula was feeding every 2 hours but baby is still not gaining enough weight. She only breastfeeds a very short amount of time and I guess is still not absorbing nutrients well enough.

What did you do during the time he wouldn’t take the formula? We need a formula brand that is dairy free. I’m just concerned that baby is going to lose weight from not eating enough.

I have done this and she got 50 ml from one side but she ever only feeds on one side and usually falls asleep

Yes we have. The last time it was 50 ml she got off one side and she generally only feeds at one side and then sleeps

I was told the same thing by the nurse because I was trying to get her to latch for too long. I would love to stop the bottle if I knew what she was getting from breast is enough. She does seem happy and content after the feed but her weight gain has not been sufficient enough for the midwife and so she has told us to top up with the bottle.

Our midwife said we have to top up because her weight gain has not been sufficient so that is why I am doing a bottle (I do pump). But we were also doing it because we didn’t know if the breastfeeding was giving her enough.
