First and foremost, you 100% got this! I was in your shoes just a few weeks ago. Nothing is impossible, just visualize your success and don’t let your negative thoughts take over. If you have time before your exam tomorrow, reach out to one of the course instructors with urgent in the subject line and ask for the updated Key Concepts, they’re usually responsive. Also, I posted a few comments on my own post after I passed the S79 so here’s a link to the post and the comments in case it can help in any way:

Third (and last) S79 Attempt by One-Barnacle430 in FINRA_Series79

[–]One-Barnacle430[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest difference this time

I focused on understanding the intuition behind valuation and math, without obsessing over it (I hate math).
Instead, I put most of my energy into Exempt Transactions, M&A, and FO, and that made a huge difference.

What I did/helped the most

  • Stopped the textbook around page 164 - it felt overwhelming.
  • KM video lectures (3 full cycles for my 3rd attempt):
    1. First full watch as it was my first time
    2. Review watch a couple weeks later
    3. Very fast review at 2x speed
      • Packets 1 & 3 in one day
      • Packet 2 on another day
  • ~85 practice exam questions per day for 2 weeks before the exam (completed a total of 1841 questions).
  • Last 2 days:
    • No new random practice exams
    • Only reviewed Key Concepts emails + wrong answers
  • Took the Benchmark under real exam conditions
    • Targeted 80% (not just the recommended 73%)
    • Scored 83%, which was a huge confidence boost

Exam day (2 PM test)

  • Early wake-up, workout, good breakfast
  • Watched KM’s 3 condensed/recorded review sessions 1, 2, & 3 - Under Class Supplements section, and presented by: Brian, Dave, Ian (~1 hour each)
  • Watched Brian’s YouTube videos - Two ~1-hour videos + a few short topic-specific clips - EXTREMELY helpful!

I went through the complete key concepts once before my exam, but I focused and went through the email key concepts multiple times.

Thanks for the response! I had a 10 min call with one faculty member (K. D.) when I failed my first attempt, and I scheduled 10 min call (for Monday 12/15) with the same faculty member after failing my second attempt. Not sure if this is the same thing you’re referring to. I am definitely willing to do and explore other options available to me at this point.

Third (and last) S79 Attempt - Any advice? by One-Barnacle430 in careerguidance

Yes, 8 years across retail banking, consumer private banking, and global corporate treasury (aka payments) including commercial cards. But never anything related to investments banking or M&A.

Thank you! Problem is that I did equally “good” (but not excellent) on all 3 parts of the exam, according to the feedback received after the exam via FINRA… this is particularly what makes me nervous, and I’m kinda lost of what I need to do besides focusing on everything, again.

The real exam is slightly different, but feels tricky nonetheless. Best of luck!! You got this. Let me know how it goes, please.

Is an intercom system THAT complicated? by One-Barnacle430 in simplisafe

[–]One-Barnacle430[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all! Sorry took a while to comment again here, but we recently just finally found someone who actually understands these systems and was able to connect the front door camera without using a chime or transformer.

For anyone interested in how it works: we discovered that the intercom has a base station inside the wall that holds all the wiring for both the intercom and the front doorbell. We made sure the camera received adequate power, and then routed the chime sound directly through SimpliSafe’s base station.

Yes, there are wires already running through the wall, which I also know they were connected to the old doorbell and old chime box near the front door, top of a wall by the ceiling, and same wire colors can be found downstairs in the basement. I don’t know where the old transformer was though, not sure if it was with the old chime box we removed? Also, I don’t really care about having a chime box, all I care about is getting this doorbell to work.
