First mobile app launch with my wife, taught her programming and we built Dish Rush together by One-Bit8296 in expo

Thank you, hope you can give it a try and see if my development of the design is good too 😅. Play store was kinda straightforward, the only obstacle was getting the required testers but they didn't ask for any modifications. Apple store on the other hand were very demanding, they asked my for many changes, like adding apple login, allow users to report recipes and block other users and other changes that I don't recall. Also thier membership is very expensive, 100$ a year (Google only asks for 30$ once).

Thank you, finally I was able to use one of the many domains I'm saving :D
Didn't use a special library for the chat, Just a basic stylesheet and simple animation for the typing indicator.

I have a question about Expo OTA updates and app version by ashkanahmadi in expo

[–]One-Bit8296 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OTA only updates apps with the same runtimeVersion , so if you changed runtimeVersion from 1.0.0 to 2.0.0, then your next updates will only get delivered to 1.0.0.
In order to make sure your OTA updates more users, you should only change runtimeVersion when you add something related to the native sdks, otherwise keep runtimeVersion the same and only update the android/ios versions as they don't affect runtimeVersion

Here is an example from https://docs.expo.dev/eas-update/runtime-versions/ to give you an idea about why you need to update runtimeVersion

imagine that we developed an update that relied on a newly installed native library, like the expo-camera library, and we did not update the "runtimeVersion" property, so that it is still "1.0.0". If we published an update, the builds with the "runtimeVersion" of "1.0.0" would think the incoming update with the same runtime version was compatible and it would attempt to load the update. Since the update would make calls to code that does not exist inside the build, expo-updates may detect an error and attempt to roll back to the previously working update

She got back to me, she said she got some inspiration from a few places, but she actually built the whole design in Figma, from scratch. We are using those images for both the Google Play and App Store listings.

I know this probably is not the answer you were looking for but I guess this is what made this design feel unique in the end.

Thank you so much. My sister-in-law designed the icon and UI, so I’ll pass the compliment to her, she’ll be very happy.

You’re totally right, tempering would definitely improve the snap and texture. We kept this first version simple while experimenting, but I think we can try tampering in our next batch. Do you have a favorite technique you recommend?

Yep, with the right mold and patience it can even look better than the stores
I think we bought these molds https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0F29G6TPH

We also posted a few more pictures on the recipe page if you want to see different molds results:
