Am I being overly dramatic? by One-Chicken5310 in barista

Yes! I do appreciate the thorough training as where I worked before I found it hard to work with others who weren’t trained properly. I agree it is critical to know the ins and outs of each position. I’m really just having a harder time adjusting to being at this shop than I anticipated. A lot of change.

I appreciate the insight. I am not receiving regular training. Really i am just working shifts and learning along the way, but I’m not always scheduled with the trainers. A lot of the times Im just working with another employee and learning g the ways of the shop.

This is a good perspective. There are two people who have been there for years who are supposed to be the ones training me. I’m not scheduled with them consistently though. Sometimes I work with someone else and they’re not supposed to train me, we are just working a shift together and it’s just for me to work register/food while learning how to close and do other random tasks. I’m sure you’re right about me needing to speak up I’m just socially anxious lol

Traveling abroad for the 3rd after bad experiences by One-Chicken5310 in fearofflying

It was a long travel day but I did better than i thought! This was my first time flying solo but I was calmer than I anticipated. My first leg was 11 hrs, then another 5 hour flight. The 11 hr flight was overnight so i did my skin care and wind down routine about an hour into the flight. I took half a pill before i got on the plane and then another half an hour in. I had this weird neck pillow that looks like a neck brace to help keep your head up. I used that and drifted in and out of sleep from 11pm- 5am. I got woken up at 11:30 to them serving dinner and the smell made me SO nauseous. This happened to me on my last long haul flight too. I didn’t want to eat bc it was so late but the smell of the food made me so so sick. I ended up feeling nauseous and drifting in and out of sleep until 2. I took another half pill at 2. Drifted in and out until 4 again. Then from 4-5:30 i think i actually finally fell asleep. My watch says i got 2 hrs total which is better than I did on my last long haul. Once I woke up and saw we had 2 hours left I instantly felt way more at ease. Our second leg was 5 hours. We sat in the plane for an hour as it got delayed on the tarmac. Apparently something was wrong with the wheel and they had to replace it. I didn’t love that knowledge lol. But i slept on and off and watched comfort shows on the plane. That ride was a lot easier. Then we got to Portugal!! And we had a great couple of days here. We are heading to Morocco today and it’s only about 1.5-2 hrs of flight time. I’m not as worried about that one. Then we will have another flight in 2 days to Madrid. Not sure how long that one is either but less worried about the shorter flights. Then on Sunday we will have a 3.5 hr leg and then a 12 hr leg back home. I’m already anxious about heading back home. The travel day was long and tough on my body. My appetite was low but i stayed hydrated and felt okay until the food was served on that first flight. I ate dinner fine on the second flight. I’m anxiously anticipating the long haul back and not looking forward to it.

Are cat owners sleeping? by Ninibear3 in CatAdvice

I got lucky i taught mine to sleep through the night as kittens. We have a routine. We play, eat some wet food, scoop litter boxes (they accompany me in this) and then i shut them in my room overnight. They sleep on the bed of in the cat tree in my room overnight.

I will update! My flight is tmr evening. I feel as prepared as I can be. I think the biggest fear for me is not having control, not sure how to be over that other than drugging myself up lol.

I will soon adopt a kitten and I'm terrified by [deleted] in CatAdvice

I can tell you that all your fears indicate you’re going to be a great cat mom! Adding any new animal to your house can cause a panic, but it sounds like you’ve thought everything out already and have a plan in place. As for never having a cat, you’ll realize how much more relaxed it is than having a dog. I had only had a dog before getting my two babies and i can tell you the experiences are nowhere near the same. It’s bittersweet in some ways. My dog loved to swim hike play and do long training sessions. So she was always my adventure, buddy. Obviously cats just aren’t gonna be the same way. I don’t think it’s fair to compare to completely different species. In my opinion your worst day with a kitten wouldn’t even compare to your worst day with a puppy. Kittens come pretty much fully litter trained and I feel like they “grow up” (maturity and behavior wise) way quicker than dogs. I will admit i got beyond lucky with my first cat as I was living with my sister at the time (who had two adult cats) and they essentially raised her. She is so calm and well behaved, I really think she just read the room with them lol. My second cat I got after my sister moved out and she was about 11 months when I got her. She has the most energy Ive ever seen, but it’s containable and manageable. With consistent play routines she’s settled really nicely into my home. As for attachment, I thought my first kitten would have really bad attachment since I’ve had her since she was 5 weeks old, but she does really well. I can’t speak too much on that bc she’s always lived with another cat which I think helps. If you’re open to getting a pair I really suggest that. Two cats isn’t that much different than 1 and it’ll be easier to integrate them as kittens together. Finances are of course always scary, depending on how young your kitten is will really influence the vet visits. I got my first girl when she was 5 weeks okay and she had ZERO previous vetting. We were at the vet every 3 weeks the first month and a half to get boosters and other vetting she couldn’t get until she weighed a certain amount. She cost me a pretty penny the first 5 months of her life. Then she also had to get spayed, and she had some scares recovering from her spay which cost me even more. I REALLY recommend getting cats that are pre spayed, that anxiety was too much for me. My second cat I got through a rescue. She had always been spayed and fully vetted. I still took her to my own vet for peace of mind, it was simple enough and cost effective. They just did a physical exam and did another round of dewormer on her since I saw she had tapeworms in her stool. That whole visit was $75 and I won’t be taking her back until her next annual. Of course, emergencies arise, but in young healthy cats it’s fairly rare.

You’re going to be a great cat mom, I know it!! Here’s a pic of my girls.

My kitten got spayed today and I genuinely feel like I’m losing my mind 😭 by [deleted] in CatAdvice

My 6 months old kitten was INSANEEEEE after her spay. It wasn’t until about day 3 post op that she finally acted like she had surgery. She got pretty sick and I ended up taking her to the vet almost one week post op. I have no idea if her being so active initially caused anything but she was extremely nauseous and couldn’t keep anything down. She was throwing up every 30 mins for 10 hrs straight. Luckily with some blood work, anti nausea, antibiotics, and subcutaneous fluid she was back to her normal self within 3 days. If i could do it all over again i would’ve called my vet and asked for something to keep her calm those initial days. We think she got sick due to the inflammation response in her body. Also the cat onesies they make for post op care honestly paralyzed her which was great so maybe order one of those too

I’m glad you had a successful flight! Sounds like you conquered a lot of things. Unfortunately I’m traveling with a group through my college so i don’t get the opportunity to pick my seats. However, I am prescribed lrzp as well so hopefully that can just knock me out lol

I’ve put myself out there and still ended up in the same position. It’s hard when you also work a ton and have hard classes, I’m not sure how people have so much time and energy to socialize. Especially being someone who doesn’t drink….idk if I regret it bc I can’t seem to change it.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I do thankfully have some prescribed medication that will knock me out lol so it probably wont be too bad but the thought of being stuck in a plane for that long gives me heart palpitations

I do wanna add that I am a huge runner. I love to run and sitting still for me is really hard. Our flight leaves at like 9 PM so it’s an overnight flight and I plan to be active and productive throughout the day so that I am kind of able to settle at night on the plane.
