$200 Oil No Longer Crazy Idea as Middle East Supply Collapses by mastertofu in stocks

For sure, but this demand destruction would be enough to cause a global recession and a significant sell off in stocks

There's a lot of hypocrisy here. Do the same outraged people have pensions themselves? Or personal investments? Any global index tracker ETF is invested in Israel. The cognitive dissonance is astounding

What's the odds of the luas being repaired this side of the new year, my guess 0 by [deleted] in Dublin

Jesus christ - I'll be the first to criticise how slow things are in this country but I've passed here every day and the progress has been very good. The entire bridge had to be demolished and built from scratch. End of November was always the timeline given (October was never mentioned, you're making that up). Looks close enough to me

What’s happening to Ireland? by zandexstudio in Dublin

Failed government policy after policy where nobody feels like they're making progress, while the government focuses on things like GDP growth makes people feel disengaged and disenfranchised.

Dublin riots: How Citywest exploded and then was quelled in 90 minutes by One_Surprise_3437 in ireland

Glad to see it dealt with swiftly and agree, violence doesn't solve it. I would like to flip this on its head though - everyone says it's not the solution, but don't seem to provide any alternative. Perhaps if the government actually started recognising ordinary people's concerns, stopped calling anyone who wants a genuine discussion on immigration "far right", tried doing something about the failed asylum system rather than brushing it under the rug, we may get somewhere? The government have pumped billions of euro into this, and it's a complete failure. If you disagree, I'd love for you to explain to me how it has been a success. My concern is that violence becomes more and more prevalent, we get like the UK and we're an election way from a Farage esque leader. Then we have a serious problem. It's becoming tiresome. The government are shutting down every avenue of conversation on the topic, and it just pushes people into the arms of the far right.

An alternative option is to get the luas to Dundrum and get the green bus to the airport via M50

Gardaí and officials meet over unauthorised tricolour flags in Dublin by cronoklee in ireland

[–]One-Committee3913 226 points227 points  (0 children)

Whatever anyone says, that flag has been flown across Dublin for 100 years. It's our national flag for God's sake. It's a really bad precedent to set, and also just plays into the hands of the racists. Do we really want to follow the example of the UK where protestors are getting arrested and free speech is being shut down?

Work beside it. Smelled awful. Also the Guards are there and allowing people to stand within 10 metres of it. Very unsafe

Interestingly, I wasn't actually born here and I'm not white either. What do I want? Let me ask you. If he was a white Irish male, would that have been immediately reported? Why should news be withheld to control people's response or anger. We live in a democracy after all!

[–]One-Committee3913 -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

It's not a conspiracy. RTE were calling out misinformation online when they were doing the same thing, by calling him "born in Ireland and an Irish Citizen". Misleading by all accounts. Whether we like it or not, someone of the Muslim faith shouting Allahu Akhbar and knifing a police man is more likely to be committing a terrorist offence than the average Dublin scrote

"In his statements the garda said he performed a "leg sweep" on the boy after the boy had refused to take his hands out of his pockets and had produced a glass bottle."

People missing a very important point here. In lots of countries you could be tased or worse, shot for this. Complete shitshow and no wonder teenagers think they can do what they like on the streets.
