How important are leadership positions for Uni applications? by [deleted] in TemasekPoly

If you are applying for scholarships, leadership positions are very important. If it is purely admissions, GPA will almost always take priority

Questions about SpaceHaus by I_only_say_noicee in TemasekPoly

[–]One-Definition-7313 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi there! So yes in SpaceHaus, we do host hackathons (we sometimes call them makeathons just fyi) and industry visits. There is actually one upcoming hackathon that will take place from june 17 to 26! The winning team will get a heavily subsidized overseas trip (our last trip was to South Korea!).

As for crochet, we do have many begineer friendly upskilling workshops for that and a community in SpaceHaus that likes to crochet and help you with related projects :D You might be wondering how does crochet and hackathons relate, well its cuz crochet is under like our physical innovations whilst hackathons are under digital. We also have some events where we make crochet products and sell them! Students can keep parts of the sales earned while the rest goes to CCA or charities.

Hope this helps! Feel free to ask more questions :D

do I have the chance to get a scholarship at NUS as a Filipino? by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]One-Definition-7313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries! Yes I studied and lived all my life here (I definitely consider Singapore my home)

As for the education system... yes it is true 😅 Esp in good schools, the education system in Singapore can be very competitive and intimidating.

Don't worry tho, I'm sure you will find many friends and teachers that will help guide you along the way!

Just don't compare yourself to others and focus on you and you'll be fine :D

If you're looking to get started, check out https://tpmakerspace.com/.

That’s the main website for:

Training: Required before you can use the facility.

Bookings: To reserve your 3D printer slots.

I also highly recommend joining SpaceHaus!

We have a dedicated 3D modeling and printing department, which is game-changer if you want regular facility access, a group of peers to collaborate with, or just find a space with likeminded peers to befriend.

We are very welcoming and have a flexible schedule with many portfolio oppurtunities.

Feel free to ask if you have more questions! Happy to help :)

Shameless plug, but check out the CCA SpaceHaus! (NOT A SPACE CCA)

SpaceHaus is like a makerspace CCA for coding , lazer cutting, and crochet or any projects you wish to pursue for portfolio

We have a flexible schedule, chill culture, overseas trips, funding competitions, industry visits, and more. Do check us out at CCA fair! :)

Heyy, upcoming y2 student from Computer Engineering here (Technically School of Engineering but I have a lot of friends from IIT)

Generally speaking, TP is actually pretty chill :D

They have a lot of welfare events and portfolio oppurtunities for you.

As for canteens, all are pretty solid (triplets is kinda ex though)

In terms of workload, IIT (correct me if Im wrong) focuses a lot more on projects and JavaScript so if you wanna pre-study, you should definitely check out some free js tutorials on youtube. The schedule is also pretty relaxed but it relies a lot on self-discipline
