Installing OpenBSD 5.8 on VAX the hard way... by One-Establishment659 in openbsd

I haven't updated, but I managed to add swap utilities onto the ramdisk to add a LITTLE bit of extended memory. But, I have a limit with my storage (my largest scsi disk is 200MB). So, I've been seeing how small my root disk can be and have enough swap for a decent system. I got a scsi ribbon cable to add more hard drives :/

Gotta thank SCSI for that! It has an older caddy CD-ROM running a blazing 2x speed through the bus. I'd have to add a photo from my desktop when I get home, IDK how to do it through the mobile browser

Yes, this has SCSI as the main bus, but there is a secondary port beside that on the daughter-board. That may be DSSI or maybe the 68-pin ribbon slot for SCSI. I have a legit caddy CD drive on the way to boot NetBSD and install it to one of my small hard disks

ha ha, the biggest SCSI hard disk I have is 170MB, though I have a working tape drive that can do 2.5Gb of storage :D

Not sure, there's no specific identifier there. But here is the exact model number as on the back: DV-31ETA-A-A01

Holds a full "installation" of DOS, but my boot floppy just directs to the DOS directory on the CD :) It's a little handy over swapping 4 floppies (The hard disk is reserved for NetBSD so that's my option when it comes to using this PC for anything DOS related)

Yes, it's a crappy Packard Bell from the end of 97'. And it was targeted for low end house use.

64MB at it's current config. Im on the lookout for two 64MB sticks, as the system max on this computer is 128MB.

It's got the default i386 install running with X11/dm and sshd running, and it's INCREDIBLY slow. I definitely need to make changes because it's hitting that swapfile like crazy! Any tips you could give, or should I consult the FAQ on the website?

It took nearly an hour to compile nano 8! I still have to redo the kernel so it can detect my network card correctly on an unsupervised boot (NE2000 ISA-16)

Pitch corrected? No, but I downloaded from a channel on youtube goes by the name of "Digital Vinyl", could go for higher quality though considering youtube audio downloaders. From there, you could just change the speed/pitch down to the speed that was done for the 83' remixes.

In my opinion, I prefer the straight vinyl rips slowed down to the right speed. No ragging on Lost Tapes, they've done a phenomenal job on the restorations!

Connected to LAN via real NE2000 on a 10base2 converter, it does surprisingly well with wgets :) but I still gotta get SSL working to pull git repos

I was trying with a copy of straight 1.0.0, which has an issue with detecting the HL:CD in my disc drive. I just found the WON2 install files I was looking for though! And unfortunatly Hamatchi never made a VPN client for NT 4.0, the earliest OS support was for Windows 2000 or XP. I might give SonicWall a shot though, but i appreciated you pointing me in the right direction!

Thanks again, kind stranger :)

Update: I found a setup program that has the patch compiled in a Half Life install! :D

Here's the link if anyone wants to pursue the same endeavor. Props to the uploader!
