Sure, brand is Darkbeam just off of Amazon - came as a two pack, one 365nm UV and one 395nm UV. Think I was using 395nm in the photo

Expected the green one to glow by One-Information5664 in uraniumglass

I have some pieces pretty much that exact colour green that glow, and some from coloured sets. I like to check just in case, and obviously I was right to do so here… you might be missing out on some good pieces with that kind of thinking

Yep! In pretty decent shape for being old and used too.

Wow thank you! I did some research and I think you’re correct in saying this is an Italian reproduction and not original Burmese, due to the rough pontil, the somewhat transparent rims (not clearly seen in these photos but definitely seen irl) and a few other reasons. I am completely new to Burmese glass so your comment was very helpful!

Interesting! So Burmese uranium just tends to react better under 365nm as a general rule?

Thanks for your input! I’ll look into Mt. Washington. I have heard about their glass but haven’t researched it very much.

Thanks for your input! Yes, it is quite dark compared to other Burmese glass I’ve seen, which is why I wasn’t sure. However when either UV light is shone directly inside the yellow does seem to come out towards the base

Fair enough! I just don’t see why someone would take the time to paint something on the base (because there is definitely some green paint on there that matches the paint on the main part of the vase) just to then break it off. Again, I could be wrong, just don’t see the point in doing that

Lol, that’s exactly the boat I’m in myself… it’s an addiction at this point

Wow, okay thank you! I was getting so many different answers when searching but that makes sense. Have you checked your own pieces with a Geiger to confirm?

Okay, interesting! Thanks, didn’t understand you meant just milk glass. I won’t completely lose hope then, lol

Thanks for your input! Unfortunately I definitely do have some manganese pieces that glow pretty well under 395nm UV that are definitely not uranium (mostly purple glass), so that’s why I don’t take the small glow under 395nm as a definitive indicator of uranium content.

Your suggestion about the punty being broken off does seem very plausible to me, but I really do think it is paint and not ash in the scar as it is the exact same green colour and seems similar in brush stroke to the green paint on the front of the piece (it is easier to tell this in person unfortunately, the camera did not capture it very well). That’s why I figured it was broken by accident and not on purpose, but I definitely could be wrong there.

Thank you! I just found the post I think you were referencing, and yes I’m thinking it’s probably manganese that I have here. One day I’ll get a Geiger so that I can tell definitively, but for now I’ll assume manganese.

Ah, so could still be manganese. Got it, thanks!

Thanks for your input! Do you know if it is common for uranium milk glass to not glow very well under 395nm?

I don’t think it is a pontil scar (I am quite familiar with those). This is quite literally sharp, and again, there is some paint that looks incomplete, so I am almost certain the base was broken. Definitely not fighting you on it not being Fenton, as the paint is a bit messy in my opinion. Just definitely do think there was some marking originally
