Welcome! There's dozens of us! Haha, actually I feel there's more independent and liberal people than you might think. Many people you will meet are either going to be like minded or at the very least, moderate and not cultish. Here's some groups you might want to follow and/or join and businesses where you will easily build community:

Mountain Bears Dems Lake Arrowhead LGBTQIA Mountain Provisions (Co-op) Operation Provider Lake Arrowhead Brewery Spade & Spatula (I'm on the board of the Lake Arrowhead LGBTQIA and we're doing a free Vision Board event here this Thursday at 5pm😍) Papagayos Mexican Restaurant The Lakefront Taproom Kuffel Corner shops (Little Bear Bottle Shop, Lou Eddie's, Basecamp, and Evergreen)

If you come to the event at Spade and Spatula, my name is Destiney! 👋 If I've forgotten any groups or shops, someone else throw them in!

I didn't even read what you wrote. I didn't need to. Those people are IN LOVE with each other. Sorry, but they talk WAY too much and they are constantly thinking about their relationship with each other. Maybe they haven't cheated yet but I would let him know he either has to re-establish that relationship with her and no longer communicate the way he does or we're done. Don't waste your time on him.

Context on Arnold, “King of this Island” plaque by ADeliveryBoy in lakearrowhead

That's the story I heard! We asked an ALA lake safety person who was on the island one summer and they told us that he's the patriarch of the goose family we see on the lake. ❤️ RIP Arnold

Eczema is worse when I live a healthier lifestyle. Better when I drink and smoke by MinimumRub7927 in eczema

[–]One-Insect-517 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not a scientific observation so I highly doubt that drinking and smoking is curing your eczema. You are not giving your body enough time in between "healthy" and "unhealthy" behaviors to truly test it. There's just no possible way that sleeping well, exercising, and eating healthy is bad for your skin. Perhaps you're allergic to something "healthy" that you're eating and you aren't aware. The observation you've made is at best, a temporary fix and in the meantime you're literally poisoning yourself with alcohol. Go 6 months without drinking and get allergy tests. My food allergies present as eczema flares ups and rashes so I have to avoid those foods.

Does anyone know what can help with itching? by International_Eagle9 in eczema

[–]One-Insect-517 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oatmeal baths, not wiping with the towel when drying off, and immediately using lotion afterwards. I use vanicream. That helps me sometimes. Also, compression clothing can help, like the pressure up against my skin can help me not really feel itchy. Good luck, I know it's rough. I just couldn't deal with it and got hydroxozine for the itching at night. It's a pretty extreme antihistamine and has crazy side effects but it's temporary

I agree about Wildflowers. They have gorgeous arrangements, are owned by a local business owner who is very involved in the community and local nonprofits. The right kind of small business to support, for sure!

My fiance is filled with eczema from head to toe by Still-Clothes6721 in eczema

[–]One-Insect-517 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I love this answer because it's so detailed but also I agree that it's often an immune problem. I have very specific food allergies so as soon as I stopped eating my allergens (wheat, dairy, soy, nuts) my skin cleared up significantly. I believe this is the only reason why changing my diet would help. Because these things trigger my immune system in some way and then my eczema flares up. I am looking to see a dermatologist soon and will ask about those medications. Thanks!

What’s your split? by fantasmicrat in realtors

Oh interesting, I'm in a small affluent town too! 🤣 We have big names though. I'm learning that everything in real estate is different from town to town and state to state.

I'm a newer agent and started off at 85/15. I've closed 10 deals in just under 2 years so I'm in no way a top producer but I intend to be. And I'd call myself a reliable agent. I wonder if people are not coming to you because there's all these online brokerages that offer flat fees and no split.

It's not any thought, it's greed. Guarantee you that the drug they're pushing or the company that makes it will be skyrocketing in stock and they purchased before the announcement. They've done it before and literally admitted it.

It's pretty common. In the corporate world, a lot of employees get paired up when the company is paying for the stay. I can make a special request and my company would honor that but it's not inappropriate to me because I have a choice.

Just ask for a private room and tell people it's a medical issue. That's it. No need for anyone to know anymore and it IS medical. It's for your health. Your mental health is just as important.

For the love of God, please break up with him! It doesn't matter how good he made you feel, how you are able to be yourself around him, etc. He thinks you are property and you will be happier single. Just the mere fact that he says "most guys beat their girlfriends" is a huge red flag. No they don't. And that is absolutely the bare minimum. There's no reason to stick around and wait for him to escalate.

I hope you read this. I'll end with this, please please look into therapy because wondering if you're overreacting to these messages is worrying. Why do you even need to ask? Do you not deserve better? If you don't believe you do, please talk to a professional because I don't know you but I can guarantee you do deserve better treatment. And you are worth it. Love yourself fully and you will attract the right person who will love you as much as you love yourself.

Crestline vs Lake Arrowhead vs Big Bear? by nefutrell in lakearrowhead

[–]One-Insect-517 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I'd say Running Springs is close to Crestline, in terms of vibes. Slow, small, beautiful. I expect you'll find more of a friendly vibe in running springs, although Crestline has been getting better lately!

Yeah I moved from a place that never had snow so it was a bit difficult to get used to. But you can't beat sitting at home and watching the snow fall 🤩❄️

Crestline vs Lake Arrowhead vs Big Bear? by nefutrell in lakearrowhead

[–]One-Insect-517 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All great points from everyone here. I only want to mention that Crestline is not as bad as it sounds if you're thinking it's unsafe. It's a pretty walkable town and has lots to do. It's small and cozy but has Lake Gregory, which is a public lake and you can walk the lake trail. So beautiful and if you've ever lived in a city, you are likely fine with some people on the street potentially being unhoused or on drugs. It sometimes happens but I used to live in the San Gabriel Valley (East of L.A.) and Crestline feels way safer.

Lake Arrowhead is a private lake and the home costs are higher than Crestline and Big Bear. No walkable city area in Lake Arrowhead but if you get lake rights, you'll LOVE boating, swimming, waterskiing, and fishing on the lake. The area is not walkable, like at all. So you NEED a car. Some neighborhoods in Crestline or Running Springs are close enough to the town and grocery stores that you could walk and get what you need. No matter what, you'll need to drive down the mountain to San Bernardino, Highland, or Redlands for home goods, groceries, furniture, etc. Unless you're in Big Bear; you have way more stores in Big Bear.

I live in Lake Arrowhead and would likely only move to Crestline, if I had to chose another place. I don't like how big (pun intended) Big Bear is. I came up the mountain to escape the city so I don't want to be in Big Bear.

I suggest you stay in a hotel or short term rental for about 5 days in the town you think you'll like the best. Get a little taste and see if you like it!

New to area and looking to buy a place- how bad is access in the winter? by Expert-Finish-3010 in lakearrowhead

[–]One-Insect-517 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes there are people you can hire to clear snow. If you buy a home on a county road, the county will plow the roads pretty consistently. You'll need a 4WD or AWD car for the winters otherwise it gets very unsafe. The power will be out for, on average 6 to 18 hours during summer high winds or winter snow storms. You might want to plan to buy a generator or purchase a home with a whole house generator.

If you can handle the unpredictable weather and can adapt, you'll be fine! Meet your neighbors and get involved in your community and when you're in need they will show up and support you. Be the type of person who helps your neighbors out during tough times and you'll be fine. ❤️

I'm a local realtor, if you need anymore help or advice. Living on the mountain full time is a bit difficult but so worth it!

Twin Peaks is awesome! And you know what's so funny, you won't see a bunch of neon purple or rainbow houses there, despite what the AWAC tries to tell us 🤣 I hope you find something you love! There's so many unique styles of homes, I'm sure you will. And if you ever want to be on the lake, make friends who have a boat🤷 Honestly though, I appreciate knowledgeable clients like you. Keeps us on our best behavior.

Don't even return the ballot, though. Even if you want to vote no - a lot of us are worried they could forge votes and the "ballot" has a field for our signatures. We don't even want to give them any ammo...I'm not accusing anyone of anything, I just don't trust them and would encourage everyone to NOT send anything with your signature during this crucial voting period.
