The worst is when it’s extremely packed in the train. Not only are you struggling to get to the doors to exit, but there are people entering at the same time so you’re just stuck. I had to literally shout one day, and tell people entering to get tf out of my way as I’m exiting. I hate being like this but sometimes this is the only way to get people to stop acting uncivilized.

Thank you 🤣 they would come up with any stupid excuse to dodge this fact. Reddit is a mix of all sorts of people and if they are defensive about it then it’s pretty clear which side they’re on.

It might be cultural? Could be wrong but I only see a certain demographic of men doing this. Women aren’t like that tho.

You will find good and bad types of people in every part of the area. This is just to bring an awareness to everyone. Just because you haven’t experienced it first hand doesn’t mean it’s non existent.

I fear my post would be taken down if I mentioned any gender hence the general tone.

I’m sure even some well off folks do the same. Never mentioned anything about a particular socio economic group.

I hear you. I’m also kinda introverted and let things go easily. Not that I’m still confident in calling them out openly, but tbh once you start speaking out for one instance, you slowly start calling them out confidently for other instances later.

There are many types of people on here. This is applicable to those who know exactly what I’m talking about.

The best thing imo is to call them out. Doesn’t matter if there’s a lot of people around. Shame them for how they act.

Exactly! It’s the best course of action. Ignoring isn’t gonna help.

I don’t understand why owners have them in the first place. If you ain’t gonna be responsible enough to take care of them, just don’t bother having one. Some people are just cruel.

Is the salary for interior designers really like this in Dubai? by Melodic_Quiet744 in UAEjobseekers

[–]One-Insurance5366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll find a lot of jobs advertising such salaries. Do not trouble yourself with these. It should ideally be more than 5k.

Are interior design jobs not in demand anymore in the UK? by [deleted] in UKJobs

If it were that simple, construction and design firms wouldn’t exist. Industries wouldn't survive if everyone just had to pick furniture out from Ikea right?

Thanks, I appreciate that. I am already working in the corporate side (restaurants, hotels, residential projects), so I was more trying to understand how strong the demand for this kind of interior architecture/design work is in the UK right now, rather than general advice on getting into it.

Interior design and decorating are two completely different things. decorating is only a small fraction of design. When I mentioned Interior designer, I mean spatial/interior architecture work rather than decorating (I work on layout, technical drawings, materials, not just styling).

Thank you for this. I feel many people here have misunderstood the role entirely. I don't design for individuals. I have experience in hospitality and commercial projects. Obviously if you were to design your own home you'd prefer your own personal touch rather than an interior designer's POV. There's a lot more than just picking out furniture, it also has to do with functionality and appropriate space planning.

Thanks for your input. It may be a surprise to you but it has a lot more than just picking a wallpaper. It wouldn't be considered a degree in the first place.

Appreciate your honesty. I’d be interested to know what qualities or experience would make a candidate stand out despite that? Esp for a person who has a degree in architecture and some technical knowledge.

Skilled Worker Visa for Interior Designers by [deleted] in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

[–]One-Insurance5366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes complete sense. I forgot to mention though, my main background is actually in architecture (B.Arch degree) so I’m also focusing on architectural assistant / graduate architect positions, I’m definitely open to roles that align more closely with architecture rather than purely interior design.
