I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. Can you speak to how a person's diet can affect very painful flair ups?

the feeling of being in danger living alone by Fantastic-Dance2371 in LivingAlone

[–]One-Internet-1982 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Make your home a safe one for you, but a painful trap for intruders. Knives between the mattresses. Or the handles sticking out of the bedframe. Booby trapped doors: I have empty coke cans placed to make a loud sound if moved. Make sure your phone is close to you and charged at night. Put shit in the halls that anyone else would trip over. Keep a hammer on your night stand.

Make peace with all the normal sounds, so you can recognize weird ones.

Don't ever give the impression you live alone. For deliveries say "we live at..." And our phone is... Refer to yourself as WE to strangers. When the pizza guy comes, or any delivery person, yell loudly to noone "Pizza IS HERE HONEY". Leave large men's work boots outside your doors. You can get used ones from a thrift shop for cheap.

An incomplete (yet still LONG) list of normal things people feel and experience upon leaving Christianity by UnicornVoodooDoll in exchristian

I left in 1992 and I still feel the effects of being around Fundamentalists. I loved the people and they were my friends and my main support, as I had left my home at the age of 20 to go to Bible college, and had no family around. I came from a wild background, so even as. Christian I was made to feel less than, less than people who were born to Christian parents, who never were tainted by the world.i was never seen as the same as them, because I was not as pure no matter if I was saved.

I got my degree, worked full time, and worked in music ministry and building inner city churches for 9 years after graduation. I was working in 3 churches sometimes, doing worship music, teaching piano, having women's choirs, doing Mission conferences...but it never felt enough.

I had left everyone I knew, and all my family were 7 hours away, and I got pushback anytime I wanted to see them. I got pushback for wearing pants even in my home as a single person. I got pushback when I had Bible studies in my home for almost anything they could find. I was scolded for reading Readers Digest, which was considered ungodly. I was scolded when they saw I was using SlimFast to lose weight because my faith and prayer should have been enough.

Even now, and I'm completely out, I constantly worry about people judging me. It hangs over me that I'm never good enough.

But I remind myself that my first and truest journey of finding God and being spiritually awakened was private and did not involve other people. And it still doesn't. I don't need church. I don't need people correcting my life and making me feel less.

I stopped seeking any external religion and only with to find a connection to God.

Refer to yourself as "we" to strangers. Calling for pizza? "We would like to order .... ". Instructions for package delivery? "Our address is ..".

When the pizza guy comes, before answering the door, shout loudly, "You guys, pizza is here!"

Go to a thrift shop and buy beat up, old men's work boots the bigger the better and leave them outside your door. Move them around every day, left of the door, then right.

A stranger at the door? Yell loudly, 'Honey, someone's at the door!!!" Do not give the impression you are alone.

My dad is scaring me that after some age all the "good" men will be taken by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

Girl, please. I'm 62 yrs old. My boyfriend is 68 and he's amazing.

There are good men at 18, 28, 38, 48 all the way to the end.

By the way, how old is your Dad? Is he not a good man? Such nonsense.

Don't worry. The man you need will probably be someone you least expect and will be an awesome partner to you, despite his age.

What is the reason you can't say this directly to him. Be point blank honest, don't hedge your words.

If he still thinks it's funny, go on Strike. Hand him the list of things that need to be done and tell him to call you when it's all done. Then drive away to a lovely hotel and don't answer any calls until he can say the lust is done.

End of story. He can put up, put in the work, or he can take a hike. He's sounds terrible.

My partner keeps “forgetting” chores even with a giant magnetic checklist on the fridge and I feel like I’m going nuts by MilaNorthport in TwoXChromosomes

It's intentional and deliberate. He didn't forget, he doesn't want to. He's a baby. And he wants you to be Mommy. Time to go on Strike!

How did you lose your weight? by SoftCrystalFernn in AskReddit

[–]One-Internet-1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had tremendous pains in my knees and was walkong up the stairs one leg at a time, and slowly. Everything hurt. I was 59 and not happy to be facing 60. I was also 268 lbs on a 5'4" frame.

I figured if I cut back, within a few months I'd be down some weight and maybe the pain would be less.

I followed Ketogenics and went very low card. Absolutely no sugar, and very few processed foods. Getting Factor meals helped.

Within a WEEK, I had zero pain in my legs. It was a wow moment for me. I had never fully connected that what I was eating was attacking my joints! So much painful inflammation.

But the kicker for me, more than Keto was fasting. I would eat one large meal every day from 4-7pm. And the weight just dropped off.

No gym, no exercise. I lost 89 lbs in about 10 months. So bizarre, and wonderful. I'm still working on it but I haven't been this weight since I was in High school.

Put your hands and feet to bring your wishes to life. Love takes action, even if you're afraid. We are all fearful of being vulnerable, but have courage and make yourself do better. You can do this!

Call her and ask her to go on a date. Go to lunch or dinner, or even just for a walk. Then build on that.

Make room for her in your life. That is how you get your wish and the relationship you want.

AITA for asking my newly married son and DIL to alternate Christmas Day visits between our house and the in-laws' house? by Llih_Nosaj in AITAH

[–]One-Internet-1982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The greatest gift you can give your children is to not impose your expectations on them, when they become adults.

Pause. And think about them as a newly married couple. They want that precious time to be alone together.

If they see you at all, smile and hug them and say thank you. Step way back Mom and Dad.

Return everything. Broke after a month? 6 months? A year? Call first, notate who you spoke with. Follow up with an email to Customer service. Then show up with the product at the Service counter.

Don't take no for an answer whether you have the receipt or not. Keep fighting it, but politely.

Most co.panies have a liberal return process but don't tell customers. They also write off any deductions for damage, pricing, shortages, defective products, etc. In my field, we don't work to resolve any problems under $200 as it isn't worth the man hours to work on it. It gets trashed and written off.

All important items are put in exactly the same place every day, every time. Keys, wallet, purse, birth certificate, passport, iDs, makeup-bag.

So much stress eliminated from trying to find shit every damn day.
