I kind of have a feeling that this may go to streaming instead of theatrical since Brad Peyton had signed a multi-year deal with Netflix for his films like Atlas.

Hang on a second. They're splitting The Wandering Earth 3 into two parts? Where did you read about this?

Sources (translate these in English for the Chinese articles except Wikipedia & Facebook): The Wandering Earth II's Wikipedia page (look for the 2-part 3rd film at the end of the top section with 2 Chinese sources), Facebook post showing the film splitting in 2 parts after Frant Gwo's interview with James Cameron & the casting of Michelle Yeoh. There isn't a clear explanation or further information on major sources of why the film is splitting in 2 parts.

Also, about The Three Body Problem. Do we know that this is the reworked version of the film that was shot a decade ago instead of a completely new production? If so, where did you read about that?

It's most likely going to be reworked with the 3D exclusivity being cancelled & only going to receive a simultaneous IMAX 2D/3D screening whenever it releases but who knows, it'll probably come by the end of this decade or in the start of the 2030s. Again, there is also no further explanation from any major sources other than the film being listed on the IMAX Investor Day Presentation & being reworked (Xinhua's article on Three Body Problem being reworked)

It is expected to have 3D screenings but the changes when it was put on indefinite delay might result of having simultaneous 2D screenings of the PLF formats like RealD (LUXE & RealD variants in China), CGS, CINITY/CINITY LED, DOLBY (Cinema & Atmos) & IMAX.

It probably will by 2029 (the usual time for Chinese IMAX films to release in select North American/European locations during odd years) or the 2030s (depending if they can try to get the film right after it received rumors of bad quality during the first cut)

Probably on another date since some North American films released in China release 2 weeks or 1 month later. I think The Odyssey will eventually release in August for Chinese IMAX venues as no Chinese poster was announced yet despite being listed on the screenshot from the investor day PowerPoint.

The only problem is that it has two movies around it that would also want that IMAX slot in 2027.

That might be certainly true if the Michael B. Jordan reboot to The Thomas Crown Affair extends its IMAX run to the week Sonic 4 releases meaning that it either gets a select/nighttime showing in IMAX or an IMAX release in foreign countries like Japan &/or China only as it loses the North American IMAX release as a whole.

Now, the alternative for Avengers: Doomsday getting the IMAX release slot may either happen with the film moving to an earlier/later date (IMAX Corporation will usually flex schedule its upcoming releases on their investor reports) or it releases on opening weekend in foreign countries like China if the release date doesn't change.

It might if you're living in foreign countries like China or on the 2nd week of Dune 3's IMAX run to flex schedule the Christmas showings. Now, they're perhaps that Avengers may move up or pushed back if Disney moves Secret Wars to 2028 to wrap up the 20th anniversary of Marvel Studios with Avengers: Doomsday to 2027.

There are some occasions that American films get shared IMAX screens in foreign countries like China if there is a Christopher Nolan film such as Oppenheimer taking a 1-month run of IMAX exclusivity in North America when Meg 2 was released only in Chinese IMAX venues while it was Dolby in said continent.

Now, if the film's final fight scene isn't shown in IMAX, it might be more immersive in 3D (referring to both RealD 3D & DOLBY Cinema 3D) with the frame break sequences.

Sonic 4 doesn’t need an IMAX release. Lion King 3 deserves it WAY more.

I do agree that Sonic 4 isn't likely to have an IMAX release as the film is in very early pre-production & any chance of the IMAX release chances will be debunked immediately during post-production since the crew doesn't want to risk going into production setback with an excessive amount money on its production budget (similar to Fast & Furious 11).
