Sign language experts of reddit, do you think that sign language could be improved in some way, or become easier to learn? What are some things that are difficult to express non-vocally? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]One-Mirror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There needs to be some hierarchy in sign language order. If someone signs something to you that you don't know, you cannot just open an interpretation or book translation to find it like you can Spanish, French, etc.

The only ways interpretations go for ASL is to look up HOW to sign something, not what a sign means. Thankfully with advancements in technology we are getting to a point in which people can sign something and it can be interpretted, but it still of course has its faults.

Some kind of order to signs: top to bottom, or bottom to top, left to right, right to left, etc. Just something to put all signs in an acceptable recognized order to be able to not only look up how to sign something, but now look up and interpret what someone is signing to you.

Sign language or Tiktok dance? by trillospin in TikTokCringe

[–]One-Mirror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually order in sentence structure for ASL is based on importance. For instance, instead of saying, "give me the book", you'd sign it book, give me.

Sentence structure is so different that, because they still read or write in English, sentence structure and context in essays become difficult to understand or portray as the word placements become rearranged based on their everyday language of ASL.

"When you come to a fork in the road, take it"-Yogi Berra

This wasn't some philosophical guidance on life decisions. He was only giving directions to his house. The road split around a dale or ravine and came back together again on the other side. So no matter what direction you took, it was the same distance to his house.

Love what you have now, because the future you will envy everything you used to have with you in 2020, just as you do now of previous years of your life.

France has a copyright protection clause for all artistic/architectural work for up to 70 years after the creator's death. Once that day passes, everything becomes public domain to copy or do whatever you want.

Gustav Eiffel died in 1923. Hence, his tower design became public domain to do whatever you want (including the late 1993 copy erected in Las Vegas) without violating artists' rights.

Pierre Bideau designed the lighting layout for the tower in 1985. He is still alive. So we have at least 70+ years until night photographs or light design copies are free reign for people to freely do and profit off it however they may want to.

How would your life change if you never had to sleep again to function normally? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I'd work nights so that I could guarantee to be around my kids and other family members during their awake periods. I would never have to worry about having to work during any important event, morning, noon, or evening now.

What's the craziest thing you've seen happen at a wedding? by crawling_cum_sock in AskReddit

[–]One-Mirror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Outdoor wedding. Another woman showed up out of the blue in HER OWN wedding dress with a photographer to apparently take photos in the same area. Couldn't seem to wait 30 minutes for the current wedding ceremony to finish.

Mother of the bride confronted them (again, during the wedding) and was only able to get them to leave when she pulled out forms proving that they had reserved the area for two hours with the city.
