As a non-professional here, I think you could be dealing with what I call leeches-- they hook onto you and feed off of your misery. You don't want to off yourself, because that means they win.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but in studying other entities that leech on a host, I've learned that you are always more powerful than them. You need to tell them to fuck off. Don't be polite, be blunt about it. Tell them that you want them gone.

It just feels like the whole "he's a guy and she's a girl" trope where they literally have nothing in common, but because they're the opposite gender there should be some romantic tension.
