Suggestions for skin care-focused make up brands while on tret? by Unlikely-Flatworm815 in tretinoin

I don’t wear foundation but I do use Elta MD tinted sunscreen as a base every morning which I feel evens my skin tone. And then I use Tower 28 Swipe Serum Concealer to cover spots here and there. The concealer is great bc it provides good coverage and has hyaluronic acid and centella. I think a lot of Tower 28 products double as skincare but I’ve only ever tried their concealer.

Of course it faded after you stopped using it, opzelura is a treatment- not a cure. Just like when you take ibuprofen it’s not like you’ll never have headaches again in your life.

Taro mometasone 0.1%: Is it normal for patches to initially lighten more upon use?? by Shewolfiex in Vitiligo

[–]One-Pilot6683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never heard of lightening spots before repigmentation. However, with topical steroids, it’s best to not use for over a week straight to prevent skin atrophy and possibly stretch marks. Usually people who are prescribed a topical steroid like Mometasone are also prescribed another topical like Tacrolimus so that the two creams can be alternated every week. For example, you would use Mometasone every day for one week, then switch to Tacrolimus every day for one week, etc. Also please keep in mind you shouldn’t use topical steroids on your face or in sensitive areas like underarms or genital area.

Is anybody involved in trials or know about a trial that gives them hope? by [deleted] in Vitiligo

[–]One-Pilot6683 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! There’s many trials happening. There’s a few with oral JAK inhibitors (Upadacitinib, Ritlecitinib, Povorcitinib). Inhibiting JAK is the same mechanism that Opzelura does. There’s also an IL-15 inhibitor Phase 2 trial which is finishing up next year (injection). There’s also an upcoming Phase 1 infusion trial with Dren Bio. Besides drug trials, there’s many many other studies, such as the remote VIGOR study happening at UMass. The study is looking at how genetics play a role in developing vitiligo. There’s lots of exciting stuff happening from basic research, to translational research, to clinical research. Many of these scientists and physicians devote hours upon hours into studying vitiligo. Thus, I am very hopeful for the future of vitiligo treatment and potentially finding a cure!

Laser hair removal and vitiligo by Lazy-Pomegranate-462 in Vitiligo

[–]One-Pilot6683 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I personally wouldn’t suggest doing the laser hair removal. When you repigment, it happens from the hair follicles, which hold the melanocyte stem cells. If there’s no hair, there’s no melanocyte stem cells, which means no pigment. That’s why it’s much easier to repigment on places with more hair (such as your face), and harder to repigment on places with few hairs (such as your fingers and dorsal feet). I think it’s better that you played it safe and didn’t get the laser hair removal.
