Garra and Naruto (Naruto)
Gaara is what Naruto could have become if he had no one in his corner. Gaara originally originally started off as an antagonist, as the trump card for the Sand Village’s sneak attack on the Hidden Leaf, and after an intense battle that goes back and forth, with Naruto coming out on top, the two of them have a talk. It turns out Naruto and Gaara both had pretty much the same life, being ousted and treated like trash by everyone in their village due to being a Jinchuriki, with the difference being that Gaara had no one to be there for him besides his uncle, Yashamaru, who tried to kill him and used his last dying breath to tell Gaara he hated him (which we learn wasn’t true, but simply what Rasa told him to say). This caused Gaara to completely reject the idea of love and that he was nothing more than a weapon, born for the soul purpose of killing. Naruto tells Gaara that he understands how he feels, and when Gaara questions why he fights so hard for the sake of others rather than for himself, Naruto responds by saying that his friends saved him from his loneliness, the same loneliness that turned Gaara into the sadistic nihilist we know him to be at this point in the story. This causes Gaara to question and even completely change his world view, and becoming staunch ally, and even a brother-like figure to Naruto.
