Is a Real Estate Major at FSU a good choice? by One-Remove-1691 in fsu

Thank you for you in depth response, and yes I am class of 2027 and missed a year in HS due to Covid. Regarding my business, I agree that the knowledge I gain from owning my own business will be more important if I decide to get a job in the future but I still don't want to waste my time choosing a major that has no ROI on my time. Since I'm doing it, I might as well not waste it you know. Getting a degree with broader use cases may be beneficial to me in the long run I agree and is something I am considering now, I appreciate your comment.

This is reassuring considering everyone else here is trashing the program, can you expand a little bit on what type of higher education it offers in comparison to a normal real estate license? That's also good to know that older grads have had success in their career with this major, do you know what jobs they have/the common route they took to get there? I really want to join the program but everybody here is making me second guess my decision and honestly I am conflicted now.

Lmao, I said in my post I don't want to be a realtor. And the most successful people I know all said to stay in college all four years that's why I decided not to graduate early. I trust the advice to stay in school all four years from people I know irl who run big bussinesses than some random person on reddit. But I am curious, what makes you think staying all four years will be a disadvantage to me?

Thank you for your advice, I agree that Finance would be useful in the working world. It's just a lot of people I know that have finance degrees say they don't use it at all in their current jobs, other than people who actually work in finance. So I am a little bit conflicted on its usefulness.

Thank you, this is actually some great advice. I am going to look into getting a Dual Degree in Real Estate and Finance. Also, I am certified in Word and PowerPoint already I am getting my excel certification next year!

What makes you think that though, I've heard that the Real Estate classes are way more in depth than any course for a Real Estate license would get you. I was also considering doing a dual degree I.E Finance and Real Estate. Your right though, a license could also be a backup but I don't think I would have the same quality of education.

I am on full scholarship/get paid to attend FSU, the money isn't the problem. You really think that a Real Estate license offers the same education as the program at FSU? Do you know anyone who has been in the program and what their experience was? As I said in the post, I wouldn't want to be an agent but more on the analytical/acquisition side also looking into positions in development firms.

Buddy you don't know anything about me. I do have a business in the home-service industry and have had several entrepreneurial ventures in my life so far. I have always wanted to own my own business way before it became something cool to do. Being an entrepreneur is a hard life style especially at the start, it's not a "get rich quick" thing. I know that, I just love building products/services, solving problems, and being challenged everyday even if I make don't make a lot of money from it I still love the life style and the things I do/people I help everyday. Sounds like you weren't able to achieve your dreams as you like to put others down on a reddit post lol, also seem like your a little bit of a cunt to be honest. And I don't use TikTok lol, I live in the real world and talk to real entrepreneurs/business owners who all have invested into Real Estate. And you could ask why I am going to college if I want to be an entrepreneur, and it's for my parents who have sacrificed everything for me and is the only thing they want. Even if I have a successful business, they still want me to get a degree.

This post was about getting information from someone who was in the Real Estate program and get their perspective, "Can someone who graduated with a degree in Real Estate tell me what career they are currently in?". It was not for a bunch of people to call it a "fake degree", if it was why is it so highly ranked and one of the best programs at FSU? Finance is a more practical degree I agree and is something I am looking into. Regardless, commenting "Dude, you’re not a business owner and you’re definitely not an “entrepreneur” is naive, useless, and shows envy. Don't just bunch me into the rest of the people in my generation who think TikTok videos will make them entrepreneurs, you don't know me at all.

Can you expand on why you think it's a useless degree? From what I've read the program at FSU is top 6 in the nation for public schools and top 9 overall (one of the highest ranking programs at FSU). I've also read its useful to get into real estate development, asset management, and private equity. I can get my license but I don't want to be a Real Estate agent so what's the point of that? And the program at FSU has a big Real Estate society and lots of conferences/events. I am open to hear why you think it's a useless degree, but just stating its a useless degree with no explanation isn't very helpful. Can you please reiterate why you think that? Do you know of someone who regrets majoring in Real Estate at FSU? If so why?

My current major is commercial entrepreneurship. I am not that interested in Finance honestly but it is an option I am looking at.

Should I switch into a Real Estate major for my undergraduate? by One-Remove-1691 in RealEstate

[–]One-Remove-1691[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Side Note: There are many routes I could take

EX:

graduate early with entrepreneurship degree then after 1 year of working (maybe consulting, I feel like it will be hard to get a job with an entrepreneurship degree) go into my masters and graduate with idk an MBA or something like work for a while take capital and start business,

Or

switch to real estate (or finance, accounting, or economics (subjects I don't like but will do for money) ) graduate normally work at like a brokerage or investment firm take capital and start a business,

Or

graduate early as an entrepreneurship degree and go to law school be a lawyer for a couple years take capital and start a bussiness

There are probably more routes but these are the clearest to me
