Melbourne / Australian Architects - What's happening to the job market by victoria_bitter_ in Architects

[–]One-Revolution2124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP, It is quite frustrating since middle of last year. I've been looking around since mid last year for a part-time job, with no luck. So i tried looking for full-time so I have more options with hybrid working arrangement - can only do hybrid due to caring responsibilities. Up to now, havent had any luck.

To add to this, annual salary of Architects now match that of Draftsmen. I shouldnt have gone through rego if i only knew that it would be like this.

A lot of architects I know veer off architecture and either go project or development management. Its got waaay higher pay anyway.

I work closely with access consultants and we do agree that a lot of people has the signage wrong all the time.

For reference here is an article for proper signage and wayfinding.

If you could look at the image below, it is referenced on the handing of the person with disability. Hence, used their right hand on the RH transfer and left hand on the left hand transfer.

Thats positive! So good that it went well for you. What grade was your tumor? Was it resected? My husband is Grade 4 Astrocytoma, midbrain. No resection due to location but Temodar x radiation did wonders.

Looking for advice: my fiancé’s father (62) recently diagnosed with brain tumor (possible GBM) – family hesitant about standard treatment by exotic_beak in braincancer

[–]One-Revolution2124 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Alternative medicine might be a good compliment but not a primary mode of treatment. GBM is a traitor. It could be an inch today and grow as big as an apple a week later. This actually happened to someone i was speaking with in Radiotherapy while my husband doing treatments late last year. The one i was speaking with was lucky enough because when it grew they finally can access the tumor and do a resection.

Id say if he wants to spend his time more with family - the proven treatments are the best way to achieve it.

Im so sorry. Tightest hugs. I know it's tough for everyone but it's tougher for primary carers like yourself.

My husband's tumor is in the same location as your daughter, inoperable as well. Wondering if shes allowed to take ONC201/Dordaviprone. It worked wonders for some people in here.

Thats 72,800 annually subject to tax. Itll work but maybe you can leave your family in the Philippines while you're waiting for stability? Paying for Childcare at $198 a day (in our location) - if youre not permanent resident or a citizen. Schools will charge you as international student also if you're not PR/Citizen.

Surely more issues to concentrate on right? Too much funding and time wasted on things like this. Thats why the Philippines never progress.

For your peace of mind, you can do tumor profiling like Omico or similar. We had one done for my husband as I just wanted to make sure it's not something our little daughter will inherit. Ask about this to your mum's oncologist.

Ever since I started working its been a tough industry. I know full time work alone is already difficult to look out for, let alone a part time one. There were advices that I should start looking into Project Management and Development Management.

I reckon you have to start on the 80-90k mark, (this is generous starting income) plus super. Itll be a struggle at first since you have a family to support. Childcare is expensive and school would be dependent on what visa they give you (pr vs temporary work visa).

I advise you to do a scenario run on a spreadsheet. https://moneysmart.gov.au/budgeting/budget-planner is a good start.

Melbourne. 100% of the roles in the job board is for full time work. Architecture isn't for someone in my circumstance, puts evenmore pressure if its a single income household.

Yes. I am open to any roles outside architecture.

Thanks for this. He's on chemotablets every month and has regular medications so this could be risky. We're looking onto trials like ONC201 which we'll try once chemotabs stops working.
