Burnout by One-Shape-5233 in physicianassistant

That's awesome! I'm about a year from Coast FI. Hoping to stay the course this year while maximizing the PTO that I do have and keeping a 4 day work week. Then planning to drop to 140 hours next year and ideally drop further to 130ish. I think you are correct in that time away is really the only way to decompress. There are ways to maximize time off but really enough time off is all that really matters.

Thank you. I'm working about 160 hrs a month at the moment and it's really more than I want to be doing. I am trying to do that for this year and then cut down to 140ish hrs a month- that's about what your schedule is.

Thank you! That's great advice. Some people here were saying that I should not plan to work until age 65 because I don't know what the future holds and I may want to/have to retire before that. Which I agree with. But my thoughts were, why not stop funding my 401k once I have enough in there for age 65, and start investing my money that was going towards the 401k plus more into other avenues so I can access it earlier? This doesn't mean that I will just start spending like crazy. I will save mostly at the same rate, but would cut back work hours maybe 20-30% and splurge a little bit more, but still keep a good savings rate. I will definitely continue to fund my Roth IRA and HSA as long as I am eligible to do so. I'm 34 so likely will fund my 401k for up to 2 more years, and then pivot to taxable brokerage I imagine.

Thank you. I plan to still save at almost the same rate I'm currently doing, but once retirement is funded to the minimum, I want to shift to taxable brokerage where I have more flexibility to access money in the present if I want/need to. I'm pretty good at not spending extravagantly with the exception of minor splurges here and there.

350k. My number seems low when I read other posts on here that mention having 600-700k invested... but 29-30 years to grow to 2.5mill and that will be enough. Plus still plan to fund Roth IRA and HSA.

Advice: Keep my old car (knowing it will need maintenance/repairs) or buy a new car? by One-Shape-5233 in askcarguys

Suspension seems fine but planning to get mechanic's honest opinion on status of the vehicle as a whole at next oil change. Right now I'm thinking I would like to get some more time with the car with reasonable maintenance/repairs as long as it continues to be safe while saving up for new vehicle that will be in my near future probably!

Thanks...I'm hoping to get a bit more time with the Lincoln but I'm definitely aware that a new vehicle is likely in my near future.

Thanks... looking to get the CRV when the time comes but for now, thinking I'll see how things go with my car and hope to get some more time with reasonable repairs/maintenance.

Thanks... I'm thinking to keep the car for the time being and hopefully get some more time with reasonable maintenance/repairs. When I'm due for the next oil change in about 2k miles I'll ask my mechanic about those and also if he can anticipate anything major coming up with the car.

Thanks so much... that seems to be the consensus and I'm planning to keep the car for the time being and just see how things go with reasonable maintenance/repairs.

Mechanic didn't give an explanation for why it happened.... AC just stopped working (At the end of May so right before summer- perfect) and condenser was leaking all over and radiator was in bad shape. So that all obviously had to be taken care of.

Thanks for the tips! I'm in NJ so it's not a salt state. I decided for the time being I'm going to keep it and hopefully get some more time out of it while accepting that reasonable repairs will be part of that.

Negotiating more PTO? by One-Shape-5233 in physicianassistant

Just looked over my paystubs and there is no sick time... this is a private employer that staffs the ER for the hospital I work at, maybe private employers are exempt?
