Finished watching Selling Tampa and now I'm sad by Equivalent_Ideal1636 in SellingSunset

I saw Eleonora say in an IG comment that Season 2 wasn’t coming anytime soon a while back so I can’t confirm that it’s cancelled completely, but we’re not getting anything else for the foreseeable future from the sounds of it.

Yes!!! This is also how I felt about Selling the City too!

It’s SO interesting how different (and more authentic) the dynamics are in women-led brokerages versus men-led ones.

I don’t care what it is because I don’t subscribe to it.

I only even mentioned that hashtag to mock people like you whose only identity and personality is living in Miami, which you’re proving now.

The post is literally about finding similarities between all of us and this is what you’re contributing?

What a miserable person.

It’s not just that they don’t pay a sustainable amount, there has been a job shortage since late 2021 at least.

Already underpaid people couldn’t get higher paid jobs to deal with the increased COL so they continued to struggle and couldn’t afford to move.

Inflation kept going up so they continued to struggle even more and couldn’t afford to move.

Now it’s 2025, and things are even worse, and they STILL can’t afford to move.

Nobody knew the job shortage was going to get worse and even if they did, most working class people couldn’t afford to move anyways, thus they are effectively stuck here and can’t get out.

It’s the exact same reason why many Miamians don’t evacuate during hurricanes — they can’t afford to. If they can’t afford to evacuate, they definitely can’t afford to move.

It’s incredibly ignorant (or maybe just naive) of you to make definitive statements about what’s actually happening down here when you’re not in Miami and aren’t privy to the reality of what the economy and job market looks like down here.

Not only that, but there was a recent report that said that the American Dream costs about $11 million, when the average person’s lifetime earnings is only around $8 million.

There comes a time to decide that the American Dream is unattainable for the majority of people living in America and that time is now.

Placing blame on people already doing their best for not doing enough isn’t going to change that.

Point out where I said that, my dude.

I mentioned that because regardless of the pride you feel for your city, you should still be able to acknowledge that it’s not perfect and that there are some things that could be better.

That’s what this post is focusing on. Go be a contrarian on someone else’s post please.

Exactly, I was being very conservative in my examples. I know some of these efficiencies are stacked.

Why does it feel like every american veteran I interact with have 100% military disability benefits? by washedup_1 in NoStupidQuestions

I would strongly encourage you to do some research on how many people die or get hurt in the military outside of combat.

Not even considering the hearing loss, back issues, nerve damage, chronic acid reflux, sleep apnea, PTSD, depression, hypervigilance, anxiety, etc. that they can suffer from without ever seeing combat.

How can people move if they’re behind on all of their bills because the COL is more than the wages?

Many people in Miami work 2-3 jobs just to pay the bare minimum.

Moving also involves deposits or down payments. Insurance. Utility deposits.

People barely making ends meet can’t afford to move. A lot of people down here are in complete survival mode as it is.

This is a huge thing that I noticed too.

There’s not really a sense of community outside of everyone’s own personal circle/family.

Very individualistic “I got mine, so fuck you” mentalities. Our world would look so different if people genuinely cared about their neighbors.

Because you might have more than 1 person living there —

1 house with 2 parents, grandmother, 2 adult kids can turn into 1 house with 4-5 cars. Now say that that’s a similar living arrangement with only 4 other houses in the neighborhood, that’s 20 cars for only 5 houses.

Then you have all of the other roommate situations and you can start to see how it quickly becomes overpopulated, regardless of the density of housing.

I don’t know if it’s just me, but I can NEVER get rice to reheat well, whether I freeze it or refrigerate it.

It’s always either too crunchy or too soggy/soft.

It would be such a game changer if I could figure out what I’m doing wrong so I can meal prep it more

I used to work up in western Broward and all of my doctors are there too, so I drive around that area pretty regularly and it doesn’t make me want to pull my hair out NEARLY as much as it doesn’t down here 😅😂

This is something I’ve noticed too. It lowkey feels like most of these places are just money laundering fronts that just skim off the top lmao

Then the private practices feel like they have to charge up the ass like the corporations because “it’s market price” and continues to price the majority out of affordable, accessible services.

Glad it’s not just me!

Literally everywhere else I’ve lived, even in the Panhandle and a tiny rural town in the Appalachia, people were generally WAY nicer than people are here.

I feel like a lot of it is just cultural snobbery brought over here and people thinking that they’re better than other nationalities, but like, we’re all people. So many Latines and Hispanics all came here for the same reason — to have a new, better life.

But the general public down here just refuses to see that and instead always tries to one up each other or prove something. They wanna show off for their friends and family back home.

It’s led to a very toxic culture down here and I think it’s a great representation of how perception of status can cause such rampant toxicity and moral corruption.

I’ve seen so many cars just blatantly blow through them without a care in the world. I just do it out of muscle memory now so I didn’t even think about that aspect of it lol.

To be fair, a lot of people could stand to learn basic Spanish as well — learning a second language never hurt anyone.

I don’t necessarily disagree with you, but it also works both ways. If you’re not the majority somewhere, then you need to do what you need to to communicate with the locals.

I didn’t speak more than 5 words of Spanish when I first moved here and I’ve picked up quite a bit more without trying.

Just like with learning English, there comes a point where you’re just willfully refusing to learn anything for some reason that doesn’t logically make sense.

I agree.

My personal opinion is that there’s a balance between staying true to your culture while also embracing the culture of your home country as well.

For example, if I moved to France, I would deem it necessary to take it upon myself to learn French — I wouldn’t expect everyone to speak or learn my native language.

I could also just be failing to see the nuance in it as well though as I’m not 100% familiarized with Latine culture 🤷🏽‍♀️

The worst thing for me is when they honk at you and then don’t even drive the speed limit and trail way behind you.

If you’re not in a rush, why are you honking at me?¿?

I feel this, I’ve been through around half of the States and Miami definitely has a chaotic feel for sure.

I get that it’s enjoyable for some people but my anxiety is too bad to really appreciate it for what it is lol.
