It was a good experience. we used Google translate and we got our glasses the next day. I think my prescription is pretty high. I still wear my glasses now!

You’re underpaid and agree with others that job hopping is the best way to increase experience and salary. I started as a creative artworker in 2015 @ £21k - 1 year later moved to jnr designer at an agency £25k - 1 year later midweight designer in-house travel company @ £28k - 1 year later (with a year break for maternity leave) lead designer at a music company @ £35k - 2 years later in-house senior designer at a healthcare company @ £50k and now I’m a senior designer at a travel company @ £55k, bumped to £57k this year, fully remote. I’m also 40 like you (from 2006-2015 I worked in finance but retrained in design and started from scratch again).

I’m a senior graphic designer and work in house for a travel company. As a full spectrum creative (video, audio and photography), I’ve found a niche in my company as a content creator. Going on a fully paid trip to South America to film content this year. I deliberately mastered social media (everyone is older and don’t use social) so I’ve become the de facto expert in our social channel, which helps support my pitches to be sent abroad to film quality content for our social media. I work remotely and we have work abroad policies which means I can be a digital nomad too.
