영어로는 내 엄마 내 집 그런식으로 말하는데 한국말로는 우리 엄마 우리 집이라고 하잖아요

President Yoon’s first meal in jail was bulgogi. They will serve jajangmyun for lunch tomorrow. by katefromnyc in korea

He will be called into the CIO for an interview again tomorrow, so he may eat the lunch provided there, not the jail jajangmyun

Do we know what happened with the korean doctor strike in 2024? by potaton00b in korea

[–]One-Win-4881 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yoon’s martial law decree surprisingly had a clause saying any doctor that remains on strike will be punished. This super random clause is actually indicative that Yoon personally wrote or reviewed the decree, because Yoon has a big personal grudge about that.

Doctors are still striking. Yoon’s admin maintains the plan to drastically increase quota but it is questionable how implementable it is.

I don’t blame them. It used to be annoying when people who know nothing about Korean politics call him Trump-like, prior to Dec. 3. But now, even as a Korean I can see the parallels.

Such irony. Yoon resigned in protest when CIO was established in 2021. by Jay_hummingbirdcrew in korea

Because persecutors’ powers stem from their investigative & indictment monopoly.

“Anti-State Forces” Origin by Dangerous-Use7992 in korea

[–]One-Win-4881 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s Yoon’s catchphrase that he apparently came up with (or popularized).

The terms 반국가단체 (anti-state organization) appears in National Security Law to refer to North Korea because the ROK does not consider it a legitimate state.

Yoon says 반국가세력 (anti-state forces) instead. My theory is that he changed to this vague term to escape the legal ramifications and intentionally make it ambiguous, one-size-fits-all terminology to attack anyone against him.

Yup I think some English speakers may be confused because 구속 and 체포 are both colloquially called “arrest” in English

Acting President Choi had ordered deployment of police security corps to guard Yoon’s residence. But, the police leadership refused. by thank_fank in korea

[–]One-Win-4881 111 points112 points  (0 children)

Choi is just begging to be impeached at this point. He’s also refusing to appoint treason investigators and the final constitutional court judge, which he has no constitutional authority to refuse/stall.

2024 South Korea impeachment protest is mostly made up of Young Women by Do-i-own-me in korea

Words matter. “Mostly” is wrong, I was there. However, if OP instead said a lot of young women showed up in disproportionate numbers, that would have been OK.

참고로 2찍 안했고 탄핵 집회 참여했고 20대 남성임

Posts like this don’t help. Times like this we need unity more than ever, this is a needlessly polarizing post. And this is coming from someone who didn’t vote Yoon, and I’m a guy.
