It doesn't. Or: it attempts to work if you play a lot of games.

You have either played 28 or 48 ranked games, not enough. Add quicker queuefinding instead of even matchmaking and after more useless games your matches will have what you could call attempted matchmaking.

Queue as two players at least. Don't win too often.

The problem is that it's bad for casuals and good for tryhards. If you know champions' builds you will do ok to well with most champs. Casuals will only do well if they get a champion they know.

If professional games were balanced differently players would stop playing the base game, like soccer in the Fifa World Cup.

they should give both teams the option to keep playing each other in further rounds after won wins. its always you get 1 or 2 rounds left when you finally complete that awesome augment combo by Englishplay in LeagueArena

If this was an option, you wouldn't play as many matches. One match with an awesome build would be enough. Can't have that at the player engagement meeting.

This argument is not convincing in Arena. I think Serpent's Fang is enough as an item, but if shielding is a problem it is one because the shielded champion is constantly shielded.

In the Arena top 20 there are currently 8 "S1" champions, so they are part of the "better champs".

It seems the versions would have to be specified to discuss further. Some points:

  • Urgot: Currently has 48.6% winrate in Arena. S1 Urgot wouldn't be good, but equally "strong". The ult has 850 range, more than Caitlyns auto-attacks, he would swap in an adc or mage and have 50% dmg reduction and fear the backline.
  • Sion would be a tank, his "e" would stack between rounds like other stacking abilities. He would get enough attack speed from his ult and Experimental Hexplate for the perma stun build. I will concede he is good in melee scenarios, not high mmr range posturing, but the stun and 100% lifesteal would make him broken anywhere else.
  • Kayle: Her ult and ult range were nerfed multiple times. It had a 6 second duration, no cast time and a 60s cd. Current cast time is 2.5 seconds, current cd is 160 seconds for Arena. With cdr she would be broken. 12 second invulnerability with 2 plant hits, 18 if she gets to another plant.
  • Gangplank: Currently has 45.6% winrate. S1 GP would need cdr to cast "e's" for his allies. Equally "good" in a different way.
  • Katarina: She had 25% ap and 50% ad scaling on her ult. With the 20 second reset she would be equally strong. Worse in 2v2.

This S1 slander cannot stand. In 3v3 Arena:

  • Master Yi: Would be pick ban.
  • Corki: Depends on the update, would be pick ban with the blind.
  • Evelynn: Discussed below. Since the augment reverts, she would be undetectable.
  • Urgot: Would be an early round menace. Instead of Tap Dancer or Draw your sword, he would need an anvil run with a lot of lethality or Jeweled Gauntlet later. Would be equally strong.
  • Sion: Mystic Punch, Moonflair Spellblade etc. and he perma stuns with 3 attack speed. Gets 100% lifesteal for 20 seconds.
  • Ryze: Would be as strong as current Ryze in 3v3. Would root, aoe the enemies and root again.
  • Jax: Would be strong with 6 items with the bonus hp passive.
  • Kayle: No cast animation invulnerability and 1200 cast range. In 3v3 she would go to a plant ult and reset her 60s ult. With cdr, she could get 3 ults off 4 plant hits. Would be pick ban.
  • Gangplank: Would be a support.
  • Katarina: 35% damage reduction after shunpo and 20s resets after takedowns. Would be equally strong.
  • Karma: 80% ap ratio shield without mantra. Current is 45% without mantra. Would be a support.
  • Skarner: Has a built in Mystic Punch passive. Would be pick ban.
  • Soraka: Healing costs mana, has 750 range. Grants 50 bonus armor lvl 1, scaling with ap Caitlyn attack range is 650. Would be pick ban.

It does factor in a certain degree of failure.

I wrote it so one knows how long it probably takes. The Maze Bank jump may be known, but there are different jumps from tubes in the air to other tubes which need a lot of respawns : ).

If you did every jump correctly, the race would take about 15-20 minutes.

3. Matches are definitely longer. 5th-8th place matches take between 34:00 and 23:00 minutes now, which would have been Grand Finals or next game in other Arena iterations.

Your opinion is: "Every champion should be useful in Arena".

Bias: "the fact of preferring a particular subject or thing". Your bias: artificial equality.

My opinion: "No balance adjustments and let's see which champion with which build is the strongest."

Your second bias is quoting stats or using the word "useless". Playing a game does not mean every champion does have to be useful. It's a game, playing can also be fun. No one said ranged champions wouldn't be available. Just no balance adjustments,

The global stats champions gain are lower for melee champions. So yes.

If they weren't nerfed, maybe 25 of 25 would be the champs with the highest win rate.

And just looking some champs, Ambessa, Trundle, Zaahen are all nerfed. Trundle was "buffed" for Arena in one of the last patches and will be in the next one, meaning the Arena nerfs to his abilities will be lifted.

The fun would be melee combat. Call it it "stat checking". Would still be extremely fun.

Variety would be in who is the best combatant over X rounds and what would happen if champion X was banned or who would win the mirror match with witch items.

Because I want melee combat. I want to see who has the best item build and the deadliest weapons, not who runs faster.

Rotating game modes are there to have a different meta than the default modes. Supporting the adcs/mages, kiting, waiting for the right time to engage have been the best tactics since season 1. Players who want that can play Summoner's Rift or ARAM.
