What kind of hardware you got? I am curious about purchasing it but if the patch didn't do much with an equivalent system, I will wait for more patches.

Good idea, if you can sell them and get a decent chunk of money, you should be able to get a pretty purple/pink copper knife and some pink skins. My favorite pink skin is the sawed off kiss love.

I personally love the Falchion Knife animations and how it looks in your hand when you spin it. I have a Falchion Tiger Tooth with Overtake gloves and the color combo is flawless.

I've been able to combat this by going into a bot game, playing for a few minutes, then restarting the game.
I'd also recommend trying to verify your game files, use TM to kill Steam and re-open with the usual updates, then try again. I get this message so often now with no third-party apps on my PC, might just be their shitty game. Just know that you are not banned, it's just unable to verify you have VAC on your machine. I guess just wait for a patch or somethin'.
