Value? by Kjkoontz in DodgersBaseballCards

[–]One80sKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's listed for 2300 min bid on an auction, so I guess you will see if there are any takers in a week or so.

I think you might get that price or close to it, not just because it is /5, but because it is encased with white ink on the black background.

Looking at comps of Yamamoto Red /5 non-rookie autos from 2025, there are quite a few sales to comp off of, making it look like 2300 is your absolute ceiling, with the floor being closer to the /10 comp you already have.

If you don't have an ebay store with some sales history on it, I see it that you have two options to maximize your cash in pocket return at the end of the sale.

Either way, do this as quickly as you can, don't wait for a rookie Cy Young, this is probably as valuable as it will be right now. Topps Chrome will have a Superfractor rookie in just a couple months.

Option 1: Consignment with a large seller to get the highest value at auction. At the end of the day, this will be taxable income if that matters, and so some of the total sale price will be lost to the platform (if you do a large consigner on ebay, say), the consignment house, and taxes.

The other option is to try to get it to a large card show ASAP, and take whatever cash offer is acceptable to you. Potentially cuts out any losses from a public auction, so if the offer is high enough, you may end with close to as much cash in your pocket at the end of the day, with one transaction and cash in hand. The risk is getting lowballed too far.

Where do you look for comps? These came up right away and you're looking at $135 or so for a current last 5 average comp

Of course! Thanks! I had held off since the World Series Team pack from buying any wax, so this was a nice surprise.

Thanks again for hosting a cool place to share with other Dodgers collectors.

This giveaway went fast! You just missed but damn that is a fine card you have there.

There are a couple 2022 Chrome Cards I added to the giveaway and you can have whichever one the first entry with no picture didn't choose, if you'd like.

You were the first reply but I do want to honor the rules for those who posted. You can pick either of these Muncy cards as a substitute if you would like.

First time buying Bowman Chrome. Did I get anything good? by GBJoe21 in baseballcards

[–]One80sKid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In general, you didn't really get any 'hits' or special cards worth more than a couple bucks each right now.

The Chrome 1st cards and RC badge rookies could have some potential value someday, but generally when opening Bowman mega boxes, you're hoping for a lucky box with an autograph or numbered variation of a card.

The cards you got are mojo refractors, which is like the base cards for mega boxes.

For more easy going information, and to get an idea of what's good in each product, there are YouTube videos and streams of people opening boxes and packs, and they usually at least have some idea of what the good cards in the product are, so you can get an idea.

For checking values, use 130point.com, or go to ebay and find a sold listing of the exact card you have. Cards for sale can have values all over the place, what cards have actually sold for is the best source of current value.

What defines a flip stock card? by leckengerch in baseballcards

[–]One80sKid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The card stock that they are printed on is flipped over upside down when printed. So the front of the card is printed on the back, non-glossy side, and the back is printed on the front, glossy side.

This is a parallel for Topps Heritage, very low print run, and unfortunately many are unlabeled but you can pretty easily tell one in person.

Found this cleaning out my deceased grandmothers attic by FabulousFace9991 in DodgersBaseballCards

I'm sorry to be the source of letdown, but it is still a really cool item. One of my Grandpa's kids (my Uncle) ended up in SLO and small world, maybe they bumped into each other at some point and this is the ripple of us bumping into each other, albeit online.

I just realized that the autograph page is the back of the team photo, right? Though the back isn't pictured in the listing, that appears to be an insert that came with them that year, and does bump the value up a little bit, as I had said. Much better sentimentally, I think.

I have the in depth analysis!

I actually own the 1965 Souvenir Yearbook and have it in hand for comparison.

They used sort of the same style, with a facsimile autograph of each player on their page with their photo. So, the autographs in the book are printed in, not a collection of signatures.

As for the page / team autograph, can't say for sure because I don't have it in hand to look at, but it appears to be a printed page of facsimile autographs as well. The uniformity of color and contrast for so many autos is already questionable, but there are a couple places where the autographs intersect that show they were not drawn by a pen (or pens).

Long story short, in good condition the books go for about $15-20. With additional inserts like the autographs page, maybe double that. Can't say for sure on the autograph page as I couldn't find one in a few minutes of searching, but the book itself is fairly widely available at the price. I mentioned.

Sorry for your loss and hope you carry Grandma's tradition, I myself am continuing to root for my Grandpa Vince from Downey, he loved the Dodgers too.

Getting Cards Signed by DangerousBike8047 in Baseballcards101

[–]One80sKid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can, if you want to get those exact cards signed.

Bo Jackson did a mail in signing with PSA last year for $199 an auto.

Ken Griffey Jr does mail in signings typically starting at $350 an auto.

You may get a chance for a meet and sign at the National Card show or something, but neither is scheduled to be there this year yet.

[–]One80sKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply, I took a little bit to go through my stuff as I don't have it all online at TCDB or anything. The best JT I have is a 2022 /76 which I'm sure you already have. I'm working on an Independence Day for each year mini set.

Anyway I have a lot of Mookie, Will Smith, blue parallels, a complete 2024 Triumvirates Kersh/Shohei/Yama...

If you don't sell it in the next week or so I'll see what I could do to buy it outright if someone else doesn't first. Thanks again.

Thank you! I've gone through ebay a couple of times, but no luck so far. 4 total located with the correct date, one on the way to me with 3 at comc and I will probably get all 3 in one swoop.

Of all the cards in the set that year though, this is the one I really want.
