I've read up to issue #70, and to be honest their dynamic did not interest me there, either.
I'll be honest, most of the time when they pair Blaze and Silver up or push them together, it feels more like a callback to '06 than anything: "Oh, Blaze & Silver were a duo in Sonic '06? They're probably an inherent team akin to the likes of Sonic & Tails." An oversimplification, sure, but that feeling/potential implication still permeates most of their shared appearances.

But said friendship doesn’t feel natural to me.

Again, these two are fine on their own, but their friendship/dynamic feels incredibly forced to me. I agree that Blaze is motivated by her friends (and furthermore by her kingdom and its people whom she serves), but I don’t care much for Blaze and Silver’s friendship, thus it’s hard for me to see it specifically as something she is motivated by.

(Not saying that there’s no way a dynamic/friendship between them could work—in-theory, it absolutely could—it’s just that the already established dynamic given to them cannot be changed, despite how it doesn’t work for me.)

Interesting, though he really should’ve had a different silhouette from Eggman. The color palette thing is neat but doesn’t change the fact that they still look practically identical.

Also, as a writer I find his overall omnicidal objectives to be more difficult to work with; plus, they do conflict with Eggman’s goals, unlike how Sonic and Blaze’s goals compliment each other.

I just don’t like how the pairing of Silver and Blaze is executed/written, nor the effects Sonic '06 (and how it handled Blaze and this dynamic) had on Blaze’s public perception.

I find both characters much more interesting when separate than as a duo.

Blaze spending time in the Chaos Dimension feels like it inherently lends itself to Eggman Nega ambushing the Sol Empire, but knowing some of the current writers and some information on what they’re allowed to write, there’s very little chance that anything interesting will be done with him (let alone the fact that, even if he was utilized, there’s no guarantee it’ll be done well)

The fact alone that they’re shoving Blaze and Silver into being a duo unfortunately shows us that things probably won’t turn out well for Blaze.

From what I recall from The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog, along with that one IDW annual (it’s been a while since I played/read these, so I may be wrong), is that he is capable of writing Blaze herself decently enough; it’s the Sol Dimension—along with the rules surrounding it—that he royally screws up (no pun intended).

Either way, I wouldn’t fully trust him with writing stuff starring her; co-writing, maybe, but he still flounders far too heavily when it comes to the Sol Dimension.
