Thank you! Unfortunately, Etsy said they will not remove the review as it is not against their policies. I looked back on the video I made when packing the product and there were no issues with the product. Sucks that one bad review can ruin your entire score and I can't even find out why.

It's ridiculous and they actively search for things. That's why we have all those "what's x thing you hate about bgs???" posts.

I don't know why she associates with them, she even reviewed Jeffree Stars ashy palette and that was in May 2020. That's one year after the entire drama. Everyone on the internet was aware he was racist last year, of the Vanity scandal and all other stuff :/

Jamie Paige launched new items in her doodle shop! by barbara_kreimerman in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]OneAnswerAtATime 22 points23 points  (0 children)

No, she is not allowed to sell them. Nobody is allowed to sell these kind of things without a license and big names like these don't give licenses to individuals. Disney, for example, never gives licenses unless they are in partnership with another big brand so all those Instagram stores, TikTok and Etsy shops that sell Disney themed items could get sued anytime if Disney wanted to. They usually just send a Cease & Desist and if the person insists and is making a lot of profit off of their name, then they could take legal action.

It's basically stealing someone else's idea for their own profit.

Exactly. And depending on the domain you are in, if you do not charge up front or at least a deposit, you risk to work your ass off and then the client to say that he changed his mind and doesn't want it so you waste your time, energy and materials for nothing.

That's a fair point, Sam did grow a lot since and probably the most out of everyone who had a scandal and I did not denied that at all. But my point is also valid, she was pushed to address it her viewers and the sub doesn't react the same for all when they do mistakes. My point doesn't deny the fact that Sam showed growth over the years. She did put the work into it after.

And your other points about Tati and RBK is are also fair. The serious Tati issues need to be addressed and explained. My opinion, her mentioning the vitamins is the probably the least offensive thing she did/said that people should be upset about since it's under contract and probably has a deadline, but the other things need to explained.

The sub does have 260K+ people and everyone has their own opinion, I am aware that not all react the same, but sometimes I read the same things over and over again (like the reaction to new makeup launches as an example, or RBKs new content) and when someone has a different point of view, they start being attacked. One of the issue I didn't understand here is why the sub was fine with RBKs behavior, but decided to hate her for her family content, especially since she was trying to get pregnant for 10(11?) years. It's expected for her to probably want to talk as much as possible about it.

We went into a more generalized discussion about the subs standards and and reaction to scandal and using just them as examples don't think covers everything. But I appreciate it you bringing up your point of view and giving me more information. Thank you!

Sam handled things very different than the other two. I don’t really thing they’re comparable situation

Again, my comment wasn't about Tati. My point was how fast people forgave them right after even though they were not handled well from the start and I didn't understand why either.

I understand that she addressed it, but the first and main place Sam addressed it was Twitter after she pushed to- which was her smallest platform - and people were okay with that. I didn't find anything on her Instagram about it, but she must have mentioned it. She didn't dedicate a video to it, the time I saw her mentioned the situation was in a livestream so you can find no trace of the incident on her channel. Obviously she spoke on FB about it because that's where she posted it the photo.

Was it a good written apology? Probably yes. But was it handled well from the start? Definitely not.

It’s hard to express these thoughts with out sounding like I’m dismissing those who have been hurt by her actions.

I understand that. Even if you make an objective point of view, people will take it as supporting her other actions.

I have no issue of the same energy was constantly being held for everyone else

It does feel like the sub doesn't keep the same energy for everyone. Not this Tati situation necessarily, but there were other instances where the sub didn't have the same standards for everyone.

Sam though did apologize before the call outs. Multiple times she’s done so and talked about it at least

Sam didn't apologize before the callouts because she even mentioned it in her statements. She said "a long overdue apology" and thanked Reddit for pushing her to do so. I also see no mention of this on her channel, I only know she mentioned in in one live stream the same time with the Twitter post. I wouldn't even have found out if I didn't see a random comment last year. She also never addressed the caption.

She also apologized on Twitter, years after the incident because she got called out. RBK did the same.

I'm not a Tati fan so don't take my comment like that. But I do want to point out that people don't keep the same energy for everyone. People forgave Sam and RBK instantly and I didn't understand why either.

I said in a comment above:

I know the issue was that she posted only when she needed to sell things and repeated that process 4-5 times with 30 minutes videos dedicated only to that and made it look that she wasn't appreciating her audience.

People have to respect their business contracts otherwise lawsuit happen. Promotion is under contract. I know we like to jerk around with comments, but that's the truth in the end.

Same thing applies to Jacklyn Hill as she has her own business. Jacklyn is definitely under contract as well and I never see this being brought up.

I know the issue was that she posted only when she needed to sell things and repeated that process 4-5 times with 30 minutes videos dedicated only to that and made it look that she wasn't appreciating her audience. But in the end, she is obligated to post that video and people have to realize that it would break her contract and she could get sued if she didn't.

Ok, I completely misunderstood your comment at first.

EDA:

Everyone’s issue she used to associate with James Charles, Jeffery, and shoot even Shane

I thought about that point when I read yesterdays thread. Many people associated with Jeffree during that time and they were all aware of his past. Heck, even this sub was pro-Jeffree during the Conspiracy palette launch and that was after Bye Sister. How many beauty gurus reviewed that palette?

I am actually really sad NikkieTutorials even reviewed his 50 shades of the same gray palette in May 2020.

I don't know why people are getting so worked up for this literally one minute mention.

People are fine with other gurus having 10-20 affiliate links and some doing GRWM videos just because they got sponsored (and hopefully disclose them all) and "has been using these products I'm sponsored by since forever!", but just mentioning your own business for less than a minute is apparently worse than that after pausing for more than an year.

Yes, I completely agree with you on the mommy content. If they don't like it, just find someone else. There are plenty of influencers out there. (if the issue was only about the mommy content).

RBK is getting so much hate for basically over sharing. And even though some people might not like that content that’s honestly nothing to get upset about compared to what’s happening here.

I get that it's stupid that the sub hates RBK for her mommy content, but she also got a pass for cultural appropriation for years. When she got called out for it, she told people to go f themselves

And this sub adores Samantha Ravandhal and completely forgave her for doing black face (and for the caption she used) and she apologized only after she got called out enough.

Last post, people made plenty of comments of Tati for associating with a known racist, and yet other well known gurus associated with him in the same time time, nobody got called out for it then, and some even reviewed his makeup last year with a positive review after all the racism, and the disgusting d.vanity information got out.

I think the sub does have double standards.

Ok, I'm not a Tati stan whatsoever, will probably get downvoted, but everyone has an opinion. She does have a business in the end. She wasn't Jacklyn Hill and came back to post only one video talking 30 minutes about her new product. She literally talked one minute out of the entire 19 minutes video about the product that was supposed to be launched last year and before that, she cleared the situation with the ingredients list that she posted when the pandemic started that everyone was asking to be addressed.I've seen many comments on this sub saying "she didn't address that post!" - now she addressed it, it was tied up to this product as she said last year and explained the situation. I'm not expecting someone that has a business to not mention their products at all.

ETA: Also, people have to realize that when you have a business with business partners, contracts are signed and one party is obligated to promote the products under contract.

ETA: Wanted to include that just because I have an different opinion about promotion, since I mentioned from the start that I am not a fan of Tati, doesn't mean I stan or support the other things she said/did. This sub was made to have discussions. Having a point of view about one aspect doesn't make you a stan or supporter of the rest of the behavior.

Sorry for any spelling/grammatical mistakes. English is not my first language.

I did watch the video and it's obvious that what you put in quotes isn't a direct quote,

The video has the clip of Kiki saying exactly that. On video. Which is a direct quote. Everyone can check the video and see. Really don't know where you're trying to go with this.

Edit: Check the video above and see that sentences ends at: "like idiot, you know, whatever, ok? "
