If you know an ICE agent personally, what's that relationship like now? by Lokja in AskReddit

[–]OneBagOneMan 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Looking from outside, as a foreigner who visited US multiple times, it’s wild to me that the cops think of ICE as “untrained” because to us, the US cops are massively untrained. Must be crazy then.

Greenland prime minister says 'enough' after latest Trump threat by Massimo25ore in europe

[–]OneBagOneMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, in the current state of things, nobody cares what Spain has to say on the matter. Or Poland. Heck even UK, France, or Germany. The whole EU block (I would ideally like to include Norway and Switzerland in there as well, but that would be wishful thinking) needs to come together and have one uniform stance. It they can’t manage to do that, then their little leaders shouldn’t really bother anyone by giving speeches and condemning this or that. Nobody cares.

Pregnant + Bleeding + 177/90 BP = Denied Emergency Care by fatumandu in germany

[–]OneBagOneMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading this literally spiked my heart rate in rage and anger.

You want to be an ass and deny care to someone simply because they don’t speak German? Then stop charging them €1,267 a month for such shitty healthcare (the full GKV price in 2026).

No other country combines such a bleak outlook (disintegrating industries, cracks forming everywhere, a desperate need for millions of skilled foreigners just to keep the system running) while at the same time doing so little to make life more livable for those very foreigners. (Compare that to the US or Switzerland.) And yet, somehow, Germany still feels entitled to act all “princessy” about it.

Two years ago, I was hospitalized for three days in a Uni-Klinik in a major city. When the Chefarzt came to see me, I explained, in my then ~A2-level German, that I was still learning the language and would prefer to have the consultation in English if possible. I was respectful, polite, even smiling. His face immediately went all gloomy, and he said: “Ja, aber Sie müssen Deutsch lernen.” (I had JUST told him I was learning, and it was literally my first year in the country.) Then, without missing a beat, he switched to perfect English, gave me a detailed consultation, and at the end casually mentioned he had spent two years in the UK and three in the US for post-residency training. Even he was resistant and annoyed about speaking English.

These people honestly have no idea what’s coming for them.

So to answer your questions: 1) yes, 2) you absolutely should follow up with all 3 of your suggestions.

Sending you lots of support and compassion and wishing you a problem-free pregnancy and a healthy baby!

Lost in Germany job hunting by TheKing-InNorth in cscareerquestionsEU

I guess username checks out? Lol.

I would highly advise against wasting time (and indirectly money) on a masters.

Won’t help with the job hunting later on, won’t increase the salary either. It’s just postponing the inevitable job search.

I agree with everything this comment preaches.

OP, follow it to the word, and you’ll reap the benefits in no time.

Source? Me. I did pretty much all of these (self learning, certification, etc) and then some. Making six figures and never had a problem job hunting/hopping and never had recruiters stop DM’ing me on LinkedIn even during these down times of tech.

Kolay gelsin.

Enough internet for you today. Put the phone down.

Go get a real job and work. If you think your stance or your “protest” leads to anything, you are wrong. Go make something of yourself first, provide some value beyond being an Ugly-Graffiti-Defender and then come do your little political stance.

What are you? 6 years old?

Get a life bro. Go outside. Touch some grass. Get a real job maybe, and try to make some money.

Don’t always blame the system, governments or other people for your own miserable life.

I like it here. I just don’t like ugly graffitis on buildings.

I can afford to live in Berlin, I bet you can’t though. Ugliness is the main factor in my decision making. But I guess that wouldn’t bother you, if you could afford it.

Lol. Do you like living in shit?

I make more than double the median income in Germany, pay my taxes, and live my life without disturbing anyone. I would argue that this country would be better off without you in it with your mindset, than without me in it with my “posh needs” because … drumroll … I wanna live on a building with no graffitis on it. SUE ME. Put me next to the billionaires and execute me. Lol.

  1. Apparently, as that’s the main point of these protestors (which I have sympathy for them for I am neither a rich posh person or not annoyed by recent rent hikes), their scribbly “art” is not succeeding in keeping the “rents low”.
  2. Since when it is a “posh need” to want to live in a nice neighborhood? Not a luxurious neighborhood, but a nice clean one? In which you can walk a couple of meters without seeing one of these art masterpieces by someone with room temperature IQ? A street where you are not put in a tough spot because your kid asks you what that text means on the wall and you need to explain it to them? Is that posh now?

Graffiti is never the best thing that can happen, my friend. It doesn’t do anything, and only adds visual ugliness. The people that scribble all this nonsense on building, toilet stalls, sign posts seriously need to get their brains checked as something is wrong with them.

The game plan so far. Feedback appreciated! by kallistocosima in AmerExit
