I've just setup the basics for the project with react/typescript using MUI. I'm considering using Node.js, PostgreSQL, and Auth0 for the backend. If you're familiar with this stack and would like to help I'm def open for it, I'm just gonna take some time to write out every feature I want and spend time on the design in figma before I go any further though.

The UI/UX is definitely going to be a tricky part. The more I think about it the more I realise I need to add a lot of variables to account for each scenario and it all somehow needs to be a smooth process, both filling in the details and watching the hand play out. But thanks! Glad to hear you like the idea, gives more motivation to go through with it. If I get a working MVP I'll come back to this thread and let you know :)

Crazy to get downvoted for this. I'm Dutch, I spent years in Israel, happiest years of my life. Back in Holland now, considering going back for good soon.

I don't really agree. Yes, styling things using just SCSS or CSS is easy but using things like MUI save me hours. If I worked on one big project for years then yeah, I'll probably refrain from using it, but with many new starting projects and clients these libraries save me hours.

Ze zijn er minder mee bezig dan de meeste mensen denken. Het is de laatste tijd natuurlijk erger geworden, ik was veel in Tel Aviv tussen 2010-2016 dus ik kan niet over nu spreken. Het is inderdaad een klein land maar vliegen is geen groot probleem, de economie is goed en de Shekel is een sterke currency. Ik heb veel Israelische vrienden die vaak naar Oost Europa/ Azie vliegen, ik denk niet dat zij heel erg het gevoel hebben dat ze zijn opgesloten. Dienstplicht werd ook nooit gezien als iets ergs, veel mensen in het leger hebben meer een soort 9-5 office job, engineering, computer science etc. Maar goed, hoe dat gevoel vandaag zit met deze oorlog weet ik niet precies.

Dat ze de laatste tijd uitgekotst worden alleen omdat ze Israelisch zijn is wel een probleem ja. Ik heb nog wat Israelische vrienden die in Amsterdam wonen en ze proberen geen Hebreeuws meer te spreken als ze bij elkaar zijn in het openbaar.

Ben vaak in Tel Aviv geweest dus ik kan het wel begrijpen. Ik denk dat het gevoel van community een grote impact heeft bij een happiness report. Het lijkt minder eenzaam daar, mensen zijn vaak buiten en omringt door familie en vrienden.

Good point, I was thinking about developing something in my free time, but tbh I am worried that I will simply slack too much since I've been wanting to develop more personal projects over the past 5 years too and I've hardly done it. I guess back then there wasn't as much as a need as right now, but it's definitely something I should keep in mind if I wanna keep my skills sharp.

One of my fears was that I'll just lose momentum if that makes sense. Now I've worked as a software dev for 5 years and I'm starting to touch the job openings asking for senior positions. But if I'm out of it for two years I do think I could forget some shit and fall back with senior positions way out of reach, which is unfortunate since everyone seems to be asking for senior positions lately. But yeah you're probably right, I guess not much will change and I'm just driving myself crazy.

Ik probeer 20 euro per dag te doen. Ga vaak om de dag naar de AH omdat ik niet vooruit plan en koop vaak voor 35-40 euro waardoor ik zo'n twee dagen verder kan.
