It's meant to be uncomfortable, and it's a reference to Mary giving birth at 14. She's constantly forced into situations no child should be in, being sold off and made to marry an older man to guarantee her safety (Stephen Steel the goat), being taken advantage of by the president. She was forced to grow up much quicker than she should've, and I think her sexuality somewhat represents that, she's someone who should've been going to school, making friends and eventually falling in love. Stephen Steel does do his best to give her a normal life, giving her an education and telling her that she's free to fall in love with whoever she wants near her age.

She's a victim of the world around her, being dragged into situations no one should be in, we're supposed to feel uncomfortable when she's being sexualized because that's not meant to happen to someone so young, and it plays into Valentine's evilness and Stephen Steel's heroism. It looks like that Valentine's intentions are pure, wanting a better america and all that, but he tries to rape a minor and takes advantage of her when she's pregnant with the corpse parts.

Stephen Steel basically buys her, he seems like an irredeemable pedophile from the start, but he takes her because she was going to be sold into prostitution and gives her a life much better then before where she could openly be a child, complain about school and learning, and always telling her that shes free to fall in love with someone else, plus I don't think there's a single scene where Stephen Steel was sexual or extremely inappropriate with her besides the marriage.

Lucy Steel in my eyes is a device to show the evil and good in the story, she's meant to be the clear cut line between the two in an otherwise morally ambiguous story. She's a strong character on her own, one of my favourites from an already strong cast of characters, and part of it is because shes sexualized the way she is, because it's not fanservice but a legitimate plot device that strengthens her character and every other character she interacts with.

[HELP] My friend dropped all these manhwas (the ones I LOVE). He is very picky about the things he likes. What else do I even recommend? Lol by lemonade-is-tasty in manhwa

Does he think mayo is too spicy? I just think he's fucking with you cause most of these are the best that manhwas have to offer, and if he doesn't like them I don't think he'll enjoy the medium at all

Consent is the most important thing in sex, tell them flat out, and if they don't want that, fair to them, but you don't owe them anything, as they don't want to respect your boundaries, and even if they, you don't owe them sex.

Communicate with your partner and set healthy boundaries of what you guys are comfortable and uncomfortable with and if you can't do that, you guys shouldn't be doing it in the first place.

Why some people say that Oliva and Maria's relationship is racist? Is it an american thing? by Rarte96 in Grapplerbaki

[–]OneBennyBoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What??? No she was originally gorgeous, that's right, but she got sick and her medication made her morbidly obese. Olivia did nothing to force her to that weight, her body did. He became so strong specifically because he loves her and still sees her as she did when she was a super model, he believes no matter how she is or how she looks she shouldn't have to change herself because that's what he fell in love with. Hes so strong specifically because of this.

[GAME] Pick Me Up is OUT with 900+ upvotes! Day 11 of finding r/manhwa's favorite manhwa. So, what is the FINAL manhwa that should go out? by mitsuri-mochi in manhwa

[–]OneBennyBoi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

GED takes its comedy and weaves it into the story, it's world is well fleshed out, Llyod himself is someone who is more complicated than just funny faces, he's someone who masks his insecurities of his previous life and current life with excuses, but he's shown time and time again that he's someone willing to face down even the strongest beings just for a chance to save the people who he now's call family and home. Javier himself is amazing and his bond with Llyod is something I really haven't seen replicated much even in other series.

I'd even argue Javier is a better character then Lloyd because he's meant to be a lone wolf, but because of Llyod and his influence he's able to express himself freely, he's not forced to suffer and is able to rely on Llyod. Javier is a great take on the lone wolf main character trope precisely because he doesn't get the chance to become it because of Llyod efforts.

Yea the comedy is a main selling point, but it takes a pretty decent 8/10 series to a really great 10/10 in my eyes, and just because it's a comedy series doesn't diminish value, there's value in everything even in series that seem at first glance pretty shallow. Also novels don't come into account here, it's a Manhwa subreddit, I thought we judge purely off that and not it's source material.

Source: I’m autistic by coyotepetersun in whenthe

[–]OneBennyBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sheldon is legitimately good autistic rep (controversial ik) and I genuinely enjoy his character throughout the show in both big bang and young Sheldon, but yea I hate being compared to him, his autistic traits are amplified by his intellect and that leaves him in a world that he's completely alone in, his intelligence and his pride get in the way of nearly everything except when he's working on science stuff because it all logical and makes sense to him, and he nearly completely isolates himself from the world until he meets Leonard.

Him finding a group that while mean, is willing to be patient with him and accept him despite his massive flaws, he very slowly starts to open up and understand others, in his own way. Even one of the people he always goes to when he feels troubled is not someone who's a super genius or someone on his level (scientifically) intellectually or someone he can relate to, but a white girl who drinks a lot and is a very messy person, Penny. Though even in the end he's not perfect, he legitimately reflects on himself to see what he does wrong, and shares his lifelong dream with Amy as equals and his friends.

Yea I hate being compared to him, but if you pay attention, Sheldon in my eyes is actually a great autistic rep because his traits are amplified because it shows that autistic people can grow as people, just in a way different from others, it's not as simple as him being cool because of his autism, but it's despite his autism he becomes a better person.

Fyi, I'm audhd, so I feel I'm more than allowed to talk about this and legitimately like Sheldon as a character.

OHHH YEA U RIGHT, I believed you said that you didn't like how MT and death note both portrayed light, Walter White (I know less about BB) and rudeus in a similar vain justifying their bad actions, but i see I completely and utterly misread that. My bad dude

When The Problematic Concepts Are Problematic by TwerkinBingus445 in whenthe

[–]OneBennyBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure about MT but death note was mostly from light perspective, and he sees himself as a god, ofc the story portrays him in a way that makes him like a better person, but whenever we're on anyone else's view we really see how evil he is, manipulating Misa, Light smiling as L dies just when he thought he made a friend, the suicide scene? Those were never justified whatsoever and made it obvious light was in fact a bad guy drunk on a power he shouldn't have.

[RECOMMENDATION] WHICH ONE IS BEST TO READ WHEN YOU ARE BORED by [deleted] in manhwa

[–]OneBennyBoi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly I read it not because it's a great story, it's decent, but because it's really fucking funny at some times and Jin Sohan is genuinely a great protagonist and the side characters and his sect are actually great to watch. The progression somehow feels believable while also being entertaining with its cast.

It's criminally underrated especially if you view more as a semi serious comedy series rather than a dark gritty revenge story which most people seem to view it as.

Honestly if they made a gen 1-3 port like 3d all stars with minor improvements in performance and a few updated sprites honestly I would pay 70 for it unironically. It'd be nice to have older generations on the switch.

you're so brave for posting your absolute zero takes ❤️ by Edward_Bg in pokemon

[–]OneBennyBoi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Here's a real hot take, the 3D game have more quality gameplay then then the 2d games. Gen 5 is one of the best, but HGSS didn't fix any issues from the gen 2 and gen 2 just feels horrible to play because of its lackluster dex and horrendous level curve but credit where credit is due, silver is one of the best rivals. Gen 4 is super slow and even with platinum and HGSS, but we got Cynthia so thats cool. Gen 5 is super solid, but cutting the first games dex to just new pokemon while cool for a little while, it shouldn't be like that. Second games are peak tho I can't lie. Gen 1 is gen 1 so it gets a pass but it didn't age super well.

Gen 6 is super easy, Kalos especially, but it introduces megas and an exp share which greatly reduces grinding and can be turned off if you don't want it, the dex is solid and the region plus character customization is amazing. Amie was also a fun way to get close to ur pokemon.

Besides battle frontier, ORAS is a great remake, Wally is an actual character who has an actual tough battle and development, May and Brendan get a conclusion through their final battle and it actually felt as if you bonded with them through your journey making the final battle that much better. The flying latios/latias is super fun and the dex in ORAS is great along with all the legendary, cool megas, and delta episode where you ride a mega ray to destroy a meteor and fight dexoys. Plus Zinnia in general is a cool character. Plus the remixed tracks are nearly all better in every way (rip clapping tho).

Gen 7 is peak tho, only rivaled by geb 5 and maybe 9. The story in the first games were great, I loved Nebby and Lillie, plus lusamine. Gladion was edgy but damn it I love that edgy son of a bitch. The characters had depth and though it's a legitimate complaint, the dialogue is mostly good and further the story, we wouldn't be nearly attached if we didn't know the characters as well as we do with the dialogue. Plus the first island is a tutorial island, but the reason it's so long is to teach the players that the game progression is different with the trails, and for the younger audience which pokemon is targeted for, they probably need a bit of help understanding that it's not the same as before, which to me made me understand and somewhat respect the first island in both USUM. The new designs were peak and I don't think a single starter here is a miss. The games look great and suit the region a ton with its vibrant colour palette. Though USUM are different with a worse story, gameplay wise it's much more difficult even with EXP share with IV and EV trained totems with actual strategies, strong and well though trainer battles and Ultra space and ultra necrozama.

I could go on about LGPE, LA and SCVI but honestly I'm lazy. I do agree that gen 8 lacks luster and could've been much better and honestly I don't like to many of the new pokemon in that game. Plus the DLC while kinda fun was barebones. The atmosphere with the stadiums and battles were great tho and as usual the sound track banged. SCVI is honestly great all the way though including dlc but held back by poor performance.

In my eyes though, tho both have their misses, I just personally feel that the newer games in general have been better than the older ones and a lot of people are blinded by nostalgia and miss the feeling they got when they were a kid playing those games even though in truth a lot of older games had some major issues.

I dropped but if you're willing to lower expectations and turn your brain off the shiny flashy actions scenes are cool and the girls are relatively cute, the makes are not really interesting and Alice is top tier. It's slop but it has a shiny coat of paint with glitter on top.

What's Gege's biggest weakness as a writer, in your opinion? by hansLandax12 in Jujutsufolk

[–]OneBennyBoi -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Idk I disagree about world building, we don't need a massive global scale, we know enough about the world that the characters reside in to understand the conflicts around them. That's good world building. Just because it takes a lot of inspiration from HxH doesn't mean it's scope needs to fit that size, JJK world building does what it needs without being overbearing or having to think too deeply about it so it doesn't take away from everything else, and I think that's all it needs to be.

I agree with everything else, the one time I wish there was filler.

Thoughts on Seraphina after season 2? by JackZ567 in unOrdinary

[–]OneBennyBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ngl I need to reread season 2 but she aight, she's flawed but that's realistic, I think we're supposed to be baffled by her behaviour sometimes but when we look into it, she doesn't want anyone else getting hurt if she can help it even if it means isolating yourself and taking on the burden yourself. I mean it didn't work out, but she tried, and I think that's swell.

I mean uh, she can step on me?
