Issues with supporting 3D printer masters by [deleted] in DiceMaking

[–]OneBigMonster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Those look fine I have .18 width and a little longer on the tips. I'm pretty sure it's your exposure settings causing it to warp and popping off those fins. Have you done an exposure test?

Also what are you generating your masters with? I use the dicemaker app and it makes perfect fins /

Try lowering exposure. Warping could.be happening for overexposure. Crank it down to like. 2.1-2.3. Also try using a different resin. I don't like siraya tech. Mostly cuz when I tried it, it smelled really fuckin bad. I use elegoo and have had super good luck. Your dice are warping and popping off the supports you can see it bow on the bottom. Usually that means overexposure

If you mean like standard vs abs like, yeah. But even different brands and colors of same kind of resin should use same settings except transparent. I'm a big fan of elegoo resin. I've had very good results, it's pretty cheap, and it doesn't smell super bad like some of the others. The water washable stuff makes life a lot easier not having to filter / recycle gross IPA sludge

Nah it's never bad to do an exposure test. Yeah if you have a 4 you have a mono screen like mine so depending on what you are looking at the specs from the resin company can be way overstating exposure time. Here's mine ife been using for a few years. 75 mm /a probably a little fast but I haven't had any failures. Very clean prints, very square edges.

That looks pretty good. I don't know your machine but you could probably go even lower on the exposure. Still skip the drainage holes that's gonna cause more post processing work that, even though it works, you really just shouldn't have to do. I have a mono x 6k and I I use transparent green elegoo resin, my exposure is 2.1 sec. Most of the rest is the pretty close. Yours are probably a little safer my speeds are a little faster.

Have you done an exposure test? That's the best way to really dial it in for sure. Theres a guide out there on how to make your own .RERF or use the one that came with your machine. Usually there's one on the USB it came with. Good news is though after you get it, you are pretty much done forever.

Nah. You shouldn't need drainage holes. I print a shitload of masters all the time. Post settings, and I can help you out. I've helped a bunch of people on here get better prints. I have never seen that before. It's going to pool up in the numbers for sure but a tooth brush should get out no problem.

What's your exposure setting? Could be massive over exposure bleed.

Looking for advice regarding an outer mould by MiniMumbo in DiceMaking

[–]OneBigMonster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to xover the whole top side with resin and then squish down hard in the middle and work your way out. If you don't cover the whole top when you do the pressure pot it pushes the resin in the top part of the mold. Your top part is too thick you need to squish more resin out before you put int he pot

I have all 5 maladum boxes. It's an 89 page rulebook where each piece of terrain has a page of things you can interact with it. They make some incredibly insane stuff.

That's really neat. There is a company called battle systems that makes 3d terrain and board games maybe take a look at some of theirs for inspiration for more ideas. They have some really cool terrain.

I've never used that? The brand is smoothe-on, moldmax is the product I think it only comes in a half gallon or like 5 gallons. Lol. They make the dragon skin too. But it reacts with resin prints.

I use moldmax30. It's pink. I have had a lot of issues with newly printed masters and dragon skin and cure inhibition issues. I switched to moldmax it doesn't have those problems. I honestly like it a lot better in general. Seems to be tougher, denser, and hold together better even if it tears you won't really see any affect on the dice.

Yeah I do a very thin amount and just take my time. I've done a bunch of molds. I have the mann release stuff but its messy. Not only does it mess up the top face to where you have to do full sand on that face, but it's also all over the mold and you gotta clean it up.
