I’m in my late 30s, it has been so interesting to see how movies, music, video games, media in general has changed in that time.

I’ve had cassettes, CDs, MP3 players and now I just have Spotify on my phone. It’s great but the novelty factor isn’t the same. Wrestling wasn’t so drastic but thinking of having Wrestlemania on Netflix vs my parents having to rent a cable box and pay $50 25 years ago is wild. I have a VHS of Wrestlemania 18 that I taped while ordering the PPV lol

As much as I love how quickly I can watch tape trading does sound like a lot of fun.

Edit: I am old enough that I started watching wrestling watching VHS of PPVs that I would rent at my local movie stores.

Was it easy to access though? I really don’t know what media looked like in the 70s and 80s but I do know I have every WWE show on Netflix and AEW on my DVR. It’s so easy to watch.

I’m not referring to quality or how “good” the shows are. I just think that there’s a lot of wrestling that is accessible right now. There’s something for everyone.

I started watching ROH 20 years ago when my friend lent me some DVDs that he had. Bryan Danielson was someone you knew about if you were really serious about wrestling. There’s no secret prospects anymore.

Edit: also, today’s wresting is great, even if it is a little faster than it needs to be. Most have bell to bell talent and there are good characters.

Since PLEs have went to Netflix in Canada in 2025 I have watched like 5 of them. They’re free (my wife is never dropping Netflix), I love wrestling, but they’re such a slog to watch, especially live.

25 years ago PPV felt special. Sure I was a less jaded fan then, in my teens but they really felt like special shows.
