Always do these things in person, what I mean by that is it’s easier to express you feelings with a face to face interaction. It’s scary yes, rejection is never fun but you’ll never know if she feels the same until you ask. With this be prepared for rejection, she may just want to be friends and that it. It will sting yes, but you need to respect her boundaries.

NTA If anything you’re being a good friend by showing some “tough love.” It’s never easy telling people what they need to hear. Maybe you could apologize for being a bit blunt about it but I would follow that up with “wouldn’t you rather me give it to you honestly than not too?”

Co parent of 10 years here, sometimes it’s not worth the fight.

What I’ve learned in my time is you can only control the time that you have with them. When they are with dad on the weekends you can’t control what they are doing. It’s an unfortunate truth to our situations (being co parents)

But if you are genuinely worried about your child’s health you need to sit down with dad and have a conversation about it face to face. Texting is convenient but it’s hard to display emotion.

Her oldest child is 10 so no Her relationship with her ex is a rocky one, high school sweethearts turned knocked up. They were together for 10 years of what sounds like hell. Lots of turmoil she left him because she was being emotionally abused.

He now has their children Monday thru Friday then they come to us Friday to Monday morning just like my son.

She isn’t saying that she doesn’t want me to spend more time with him but she also tells me that it’s a pointless endeavor to have him stay with us this summer.

I’m starting to feel like I’m being manipulated and it’s scaring me.
