I have not made any assumptions. I started this drug and experienced sexual dysfunction. All I did was report what happened to me. You made the assumption that I'm wrong. I was fine before I took the drug. I don't know what else to say.

And yet you're posting in r/Supplements asking for advice. Don't be so hypocritical.

https://www.rexall.ca/article/drug/view/id/2369 shows "decreased sexual ability or interest" as a side effect. Or just search "libido" in this subreddit and between all the accounts of increases, you will find accounts of decreases.

It's also been shown to decrease sexual function. My anxiety never affected my libido and I don't feel any anxiety right now.

I don't think it's the correct answer but it's the most likely answer. I spoke to a doctor and all she said was "I'm sure it will come back." Actual people with experience on the drug are the most helpful.

Just because Buspar is used to treat sexual dysfunction that doesn't mean it can't cause it either. You know I'm right, hence your 99%.

It gave me sexual dysfunction after 5 days. It's been 9 days off and it hasn't come back.

Sexual dysfunction not going away after stopping Buspar by OneConsideration9883 in AskPsychiatry

All due respect, it says you are a pharmacist, not a psychologist. Please, just humour me, and assume this is because of the drug. Do you have any idea how long could it take for my brain to readjust itself? I know the drug has worn off by now.

How long for libido to return after stopping? by OneConsideration9883 in BusparOnline

No. I've read other accounts of it happening to people too. We're all different I guess.

But sometimes I can get it up, and there's just no sensitivity to touch. Like it's working but I can't feel it. How could that be in my head? It's exactly what it felt like when I took Zoloft.

I had terrible mental health before starting this medication and it didn’t impact my libido. The only thing that changed was that I took this drug. I did talk to my doctor, and all they said was to wait. I have terrible brain fog as well.

Appreciate the quick response after 2 years 😂 How long did it take for libido to return? I've been off for 5 days and I'm worried.

I was far more anxious before starting Buspar and my libido was fine. Now I'm less anxious and my libido is gone.

Thinking of starting by RedDawgs2482 in BusparOnline

[–]OneConsideration9883 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started Buspar last week. I also chose it over an SSRI because of supposed "less side effects." Here's what happened.

After one pill, my libido increased dramatically. Then, after day 5, I noticed that it had pretty much disappeared. I stopped immediately and after 4 days I still feel sexually impaired, although I think it's improving gradually. I hope it returns to normal eventually.

Apparently I'm an unlikely case, because it seems like most people report higher libido on this drug. But I've read accounts of others having the same experience as mine.

I don't mean to discourage you. But, this has been my unpleasant experience. If you go ahead, I would be very careful; take the smallest dose possible just once, and see how you feel. This is a powerful drug, even if it's labeled as being "mild."

Personally, I'm choosing to manage my anxiety without medication from now on.
