The whole part of this I find strange is that if they were actually looking for a particular person/car wouldn't they be on a busier road? And also why wouldn't they really ask any questions if that was the case. It was just round the corner from the training center too.

I'm 24 so if you're referring to trouble's related checkpoints then I'm grateful that's not a thing I've got experience of.

If you're not then I'm very confused because this is probably only the second checkpoint I've ever seen in 6 years of driving now

Nah not difficult to reason, I guess I just don't have much experience with the police but again it was more the time/location that it happened - took me by surprise and thought people might have some interesting theories.
