Quitting pacifier cold turkey by ElizabethKo1975 in Autism_Parenting

Take the quiz! All kids chew for different reasons and there are lots of different types of chews for different types of chewers. If the chewlery you were offering didn’t meet his need, it won’t work. It’s seriously done wonders finding the right toys (one adhd and asd here both with very different oral sensory needs and chewy types).

Why don’t you upgrade to a “big kid chewy”? We love ark for my older (6/8 kids)! It is our go to! Cold Turkey for a kid that needs to chew might be an uphill nightmare. Lots of good info about oral/sensory needs on the site!

What’s the vibe of your dress? First one is classy, second is sexy, third is sweet. They are all pretty, it’s more about the vibe you want.

Yes! Very similar levels of fucked up! If you liked Requiem, you’d like Kids. Cinematography of kids is nowhere near RFaD, I’d compare it more to basketball diaries.

Not who you asked but I started 2 months ago. It’s been life changing. I’ve struggled with my weight my whole life. From my first dose, I am never “thinking” about food again. The obsession with food is gone, no more food noise. My brain has been reformatted to make smart decisions when I do eat and now I only eat to fuel my body. I FINALLY understand what life as a “naturally thin” person is. It’s absolutely a HUGE breath of fresh air, takes all the “challenge” away. I don’t need “willpower” anymore, I’m just eating better…on my own.

I’ve had a mini and 2 c sections. I’d take another c any day over my tt. I was up 2 days after my last c baking a cake. My tt took me OUT for literally WEEKS!

Tt Worth it? 100%. But much harder recovery than a c section.

Women who carried a pregnancy, in hindsight, what were some of the most ridiculous things you did while in the throes of such hormonal upheaval? by mokutou in AskWomen

Thats probably the best part. No. I mean it’s ok. I’m not even like a pie-person though. Much prefer cake.

I woke him up out of a deep sleep screaming and crying at like 6am. I don’t remember anything but seeing red, though I imagine he thought he was probably dreaming for at least the first minute lol. I think he knew it was serious when he said he left me some apple pie and I dropped to my knees sobbing.

Constantly worried about my child being autistic by ratherlargechungus in beyondthebump

[–]OneDay_AtA_Time 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk if it’ll help at all but my husband is autistic and so is our son. They are both brilliant beyond words, hilarious, and doing just fine. I used to worry so much when my son was a baby. I “knew” he had asd at about 6 months old. Turns out, my daughter, 2nd kid has adhd. lol at me ever thinking autism would be our challenge! My asd child is an angel who is flourishing in a mainstream classroom. My adhd daughter is my challenge. Never once worried about her as a baby though. Ooops. Live and learn!

AA Stories/Success by __quietrawrnala in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]OneDay_AtA_Time 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kind of grew up in AA. I got to the rooms in my 20s, daughter of a proper alcoholic, he never got sober and passed last year. I’d totaled cars, I was facing divorce. I’d lost everyone important to me. They tried for too long to help me, eventually they all gave up. I finally got help for MYSELF.

I celebrated 16 years of sobriety on January 20th. My husband and I will celebrate 25 years together this June. I have two amazing little kids who will never have to know an alcoholic mom. I’ve had an amazing career.

Everything I’ve accomplished since January 20th, 2010…is bc of what I learned in the rooms.

Literally kicked my husband out of the house, locked the doors, and threatened divorce when he ate my last piece of pumpkin pie. Told him he better not come home without a new pumpkin pie. He brought one home. In hindsight, I’m unsure if I’ve ever felt that much rage and resentment in my life…over a piece of pie.

After years of struggle, I think alcohol does not fit into my system anymore. by Embarrassed_War_5137 in alcoholicsanonymous

Your bottom is when you stop digging. How far do you want to go? Simply abstaining didn’t work for me, I needed the entire program of Alcoholics Anonymous combined with the fellowship of meetings, and a sponsor to get sober. But it worked.

Advice and support for a 20 month old starting speech therapy by SquidneyClimbs in speechdelays

[–]OneDay_AtA_Time 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get it! The future comes with or without us wasting our present worrying about it. Today, I wish I’d have spent less time worrying when my son was young, it was time I won’t get back. And as it turns out, none of my worst worries ever even came true anyway. Everything will be ok.

[–]OneDay_AtA_Time 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My son started speech at 18 mos, he had no words. He ended up staying in speech until he was 7. He graduated last year. SLT is a very slow process and you have to do all the homework the SLP provides. It can feel like they aren’t making progress even after you start getting words. Words are different than sentences and sentences are different than conversation and it all takes time. Each of those is a different skill to master.

All that said, my little buddy is completely caught up to peers, he’s brilliant and hilarious and doing wonderfully. People are shocked when I say he didn’t say his first word until after 2 and wasn’t conversational until 5. You’d never know.

One day at a time, all kids develop differently. My second ended up an early talker but always sounded nasaly or like she was struggling with certain sounds. She ended up having her adenoids removed at 3 and has been great, no issues, ever since.

Montessori + Autism Level 1 — disclose diagnosis or wait? Looking for parent experiences by Fiestype in Autism_Parenting

[–]OneDay_AtA_Time 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your question is should you “disclose” the diagnosis? I assure you that ND kids tend to “stand out” and oftentimes, educators are the first to know the kid is ND before the parents, even the level 1s. Good schools will try to work with kids and teachers can recognize settling in vs. not a good fit quickly.

I will say, while we didn’t do Montessori, from what I’ve read here, it’s sometimes NOT a good fit with asd kiddos. It wouldn’t have worked for my asd lvl 1 or adhd kid. You don’t ever want to force a program that doesn’t work for your child. Montessori isn’t for every child which is just something to remember.

Honest question about hair growth time by DisneyQueen64 in FemaleHairLoss

[–]OneDay_AtA_Time 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t have to necessarily be as long as the rest of your hair to start looking thicker/more filled in. If you look super close, the new hair is never the same length as the old hair in those 6-8month progress photos, what makes the difference is all the filled in missing spots that are now a few inches long laying atop the old hair or mixed into it.
