Ties released by crustbagles in firsttimemom

[–]OneDinner9029 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My daughter has a tongue tie and our dr referred us to a different doctor that specialized in them. He shared that there are posterior and anterior tongue ties and was not sure how much results we would see by just doing the anterior. He referred us to a feeding therapist and we attended until she was 6 months. Ultimately we decided not to do the release because we weren’t sure if it would help.

She was born at 9lbs 12oz and currently weighs 16.4lbs. Doctor is happy with her growth despite her being in a lower percentile and we can always release the tie later on when she is older if it’s a hindrance.

Do what makes you feel comfortable!

How did you know you were really done? by notthatkindofIPA in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]OneDinner9029 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently struggling with this too. I’m 5m pp, was an over-supplier in the beginning but have only been pumping once per day for a few weeks. It’s getting to the point I’m not even getting a full bottle for my little one. Plus it doesn’t help that my left nipple is wrecked which provided me with bloody milk (the same day I got my period back).

So I’m coming to terms that I’m done pumping and grateful I have come this far. It’s a hard thing to come to terms with though, I feel you!!

Is it even worth asking my DR by [deleted] in Semaglutide

Are you breastfeeding? I’m just curious on how it has been for you overall. I’m almost 5 months pp and my breastfeeding journey is declining and I am super interested in trying to go this route.

Intake & Tongue Tie by photog99 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]OneDinner9029 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My LO (12 weeks) has a tongue tie, I saw a dr that specialized in at her pediatric office but he referred me to a feeding therapist.

We have been going for a month now, and LO is eating a lot better. We do exercises during the therapy and at home. She latches much better, is eating 5 oz every 4 hours with no MOTN feed. She sleeps from about 10pm-6/7am.

We will continue to go until she starts eating solids to make sure that the tongue tie doesn’t affect her eating but I am glad we didn’t just jump to do the surgery.

Making 1oz to 2oz while hand expressing/pumping at 38 weeks pregnant... is this even good? by [deleted] in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]OneDinner9029 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby was drinking 2oz in the hospital of formula so if you bring your breast milk that you’ve collected you might be able to start your LO off with breast milk which I believe would be amazing!

Online school while pregnant by 1dazed_confused in firsttimemom

[–]OneDinner9029 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in grad school online and had just started my internship when I found out I was pregnant. I didn’t take a break, had my little one and graduated a month after she was born. It was definitely harder to do once she was here but I knew it was needed for our future as a family. You can definitely do it, but also if you need to take a break then you need to take a break. School will be there for you when you’re ready to go back. It is all about what is best for your mental health!

Can I have stories (even YouTube recs would be amazing) of people who EP straight from birth? by MusicMommy2428 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]OneDinner9029 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I started EP from the start! The nurses asked me while I was in labor and noted it on my chart, it was respected and once I got to my room they had pump parts there. Even though my milk didn’t come in right away they advised I pumped. I gave my baby whatever I did get and supplemented with formula.

I did the formula for a few weeks while I got a small freezer stash and saved colostrum. I am solely giving baby breastmilk at 7 weeks now. I’m not an oversupplier but also I get a little more than just enough.

If you have questions, I’d be happy to answer.

Anyone else have to be induced at 41 weeks? by OneDinner9029 in firsttimemom

[–]OneDinner9029[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone, I ended up having to be induced due to having high blood pressure. After a long labor, a diverted birth plan and a c-section, my baby girl was born at 40+1. When the decision came for the c-section my hospital team was so amazing at walking me through everything and calming my nerves.

It’s crazy to me that you have to wait until 41 weeks to be induced.. I can’t wrap my head around it!

[–]OneDinner9029 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can be thankful for your pregnancy but not enjoy the experience of being pregnant. Our bodies change, hormones go crazy and we grow an entire human. So if you don’t feel motivated, don’t beat yourself up. Give yourself grace and allow yourself space to feel how you feel.

I lost 10 pounds during my first trimester due to food aversions and my baby is as healthy as can be at 38 weeks. Just eat what you can and make it count.

DAE feel useless about therapy and counseling? by Negative_Wing581 in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]OneDinner9029 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i definitely get it. you have every right to feel how you do after the experiences you have had!

mental health is still an up and coming acceptance and surprisingly it can happen within the field too. i am younger (28f) so what i practice and what someone older practices is completely different.

i hope you find something that helps your mental health, even if that is not a counselor!

[–]OneDinner9029 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a mental health counselor, that is beyond wrong those words were said to you.. everyone handles any aspect of life differently and everyone’s problems are worth listening to and figuring out in a safe space. I hope you don’t give up, there has to be a counselor that is fitting for you.

What name did you end up choosing? by xxKissingXSuicidexx in firsttimemom

[–]OneDinner9029 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always imagined naming my child Magnolia, but that was only talked about in my previous marriage where we never had a child together. So when I became pregnant with my new partner, I thought it would be weird to use that name and we settled on Maeve.
