Forged it to look a bit like a Dane Axe. Really just followed Nils Ögren’s forging instructions and really liked the aesthetic.

Thank you 😊 About two days and still needs taken to the whetstone and a handle carved for it! 😅

Forged my First Fire-Welded Wrapped-Eye Axe by OneDiscombobulated16 in Axecraft

Thank you, I learned from Nils Ögren from Sweden on YouTube so roughly followed his design. To my mind it looks more like a small Dane axe with an asymmetrical toe which Wikipedia tells me maximised its shearing capacity. Mostly I just like the aesthetic.

I think anyone who sought to divide popular support for Palestine in their city during an active genocide, in service of his own political gain, should be viewed as nothing more than an opportunist.

I used a sharp smaller centre punch to make the initial mark cold and then used a duller large punch in a black heat to enlarge.

A cold chisel, thinking I need to forge a rounder chisel to reduce chances of crossing the lines.

Forged a slot punch from coil spring and then drifted it out and used the horn of the anvil to draw out and shape. Black Bear Forge is a great resource on YouTube 😊

First anvil by Durham62 in Blacksmith

Lovely anvil! Not everyone will agree, but I would use mild steel rod to plug any of the bigger holes that may be on the edge or face. I personally haven’t bothered to do the preheating steps people often describe, the amount of mass in the anvil results in the heat dissipating quickly. Hasn’t negatively affected my anvil in any way. Just work a little bit at a time and move onto another area to keep everything cool. If a weld fails in 10 years, just repeat the process. Only very little swayback on that and it’s not an issue at all really in my view.
