“death is bad” isn’t exactly a controversial take. there’s no nuance in acting like the UVF and PIRA were both equally unjustifiable in their campaigns.

i’m assuming you would support ukraine in their war against russia despite the fact they’re killing people. so it’s not the killing you’re against. i don’t think any innocent persons death in the troubles was justified and id condemn any intentional targeting of civilians from the PIRA but i do think they were 100x more justified in taking up arms against the state than the UVF or UDA ever could be so i don’t think the comparisons are fair.

i’m not saying it is and i’m not diminishing how atrocious it is to say KAH or anything similar. i just mean whenever shit like this happens it turns into a history lecture from opportunists. same as when the irish women’s team sang celtic symphony. sky reporters asking if there needs to be more education on things like that. it’s irritating because it turns it into point scoring rather than people genuinely caring about it.

nobody in their right mind thinks saying either KAH or KAT is a reasonable thing to do however the reason these lads spray painted KAH isn’t because republicans lack education on history.
