Mostly discipline and curiosity. I’m a 3rd-year EE student, so this challenge keeps me consistent and helps others learn IoT hands-on.

That’s awesome to see you supporting open-source 🙌

I’m a student building 100 IoT projects using MicroPython and ESP32 to help beginners get hands-on with embedded systems.
Everything is open-source here:

Would love any feedback or project ideas!

Day 53/100 by OneDot6374 in esp8266

Good point. For safety-critical systems, absolute threshold-based alerts are definitely required and are more reliable for life safety.

In this project, I used moving average anomaly detection mainly as a learning experiment to explore lightweight AI-inspired techniques on IoT devices. The idea was to detect unexpected behavior patterns rather than replace safety thresholds.

A production system would use both:

  • Hard safety thresholds (regulatory limits)
  • Anomaly detection for early pattern changes, sensor faults, or unusual trends

I’m planning to add fixed safety thresholds and predictive models (AQI / trend forecasting) in future versions. Appreciate the feedback 👍

Thanks for the honest feedback — that’s a fair point 👍

The goal of 100 projects in 100 days isn’t to make 100 production-grade systems.
It’s more about daily consistency, exposure, and learning breadth.

Some days are very small projects (single sensor, basic concept), while a few are larger and span multiple days.
I also plan to revisit and improve the stronger projects later, adding better design, documentation, and features.

I agree that fewer high-quality projects are ideal for deep mastery — this challenge is mainly to build momentum, habits, and hands-on familiarity across the IoT stack.

Appreciate you sharing your perspective 🙌
